Brewed with native Pennsylvania neck pumpkins harvested just a few miles from our brewery at Strites’ Orchard, Master of Pumpkins conjures the spirit of autumn by combining roasted pumpkins and traditional pie spices with a French saison yeast. This natural fermentation releases a palate of vanilla, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, and honey. In addition to 750mL bottles, Master of Pumpkins is also currently available on draft and for take-out growler fills in the Tasting Room. Taste it you will see. More is all you need! 2014 note: now sold in four packs of 12.7 oz bottles. (375 ml)

This poured an orange color with a white head. Aroma was of light spices, cracker, yeast esters and grass. Flavor was a great blend between mild pie spices, pumpkin flesh, and saisiny rusticity. Really cool take on a pumpkin beer.

Pour is reddish copper with a thin tan ring. Nose is light pumpkin with fair bit of spice. Some grain balance and a touch of banana bread. Taste is heavier pumpkin spice with a hint of apple cider and a touch of banana bread. Fairly strong carb with a medium to full body.

Beautiful dark burnt orange from a growlers. Nice head and just enough fizziness. Aroma of spices and Belgian yeast. Nicely balanced spice mix on the palate. The Belgian yeast enhances the spiciness and complexity. Just a bit of pumpkin is also evident. This is one of the best pumpkin beers I have tried.

Autumn 2014 bottle, drunk February 2015.
First off, these Troeg’s cork and cage bottles are just awesome. Not that we needed further proof that Troegs is still putting out a top-notch product, has not sold out and is generally amazing, but there you have it.
The amber-chestnut beer shows good clarity and a wispy beige/off-white head that slowly fades to a ring/cover.
Sticky buttercream, caramel, vanilla and primarily clove/nutmeg in the nose, it nonetheless still makes plenty of room for the saison yeast characteristics. Earthiness, light acids, cellar notes and peppery phenols all provide more complexity than any pumpkin beer I can remember. No flaws, no alcohol noted.
In the mouth, there is modestly tight carbonation, with a good creaminess from the light sugars. The spices, as in all pumpkin beers, do break up the consistency a bit, but less so here than in most. Cinnamon, vanilla, actual pumpkin flavor and light caramel are all balanced well, with plentiful peppery phenols from the yeast and moderate acidity as well. Clean, mostly dry and with no alcohol. One of the best pumpkins I’ve ever had.

Sample pour on tap at brewery in Hershey. Pours a lighter brown with some cloudiness. Aroma of cinnamon and spice. Brown sugar notes as well. Taste is sweet yet balanced by a dry and slightly bitter finish. Not too overdone. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Shared bottle at Craft Ale. Poured hazy orange with off-white head. Nose was pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice, mild hops. Tasted of pumpkin, spice, hops, nit sweet but with a finishing resiny hop matched with natural pumpkin and spice flavor.

Tastes almost like a Belgium pumpkin. Raiseny plum flavors of a dubble. Mixed with delicious pumpkin pie flavors. Got some zip on the toungue.

Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer is served a deep burnt orange color with a little bit of haze and a one finger head of white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading to leave a bit of streaky lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the brew is heaviest of a nice roasted pumpkin smell along with some sweeter aromas of caramel and brown sugar. Some standard pumpkin spice aromas of a cinnamon and nutmeg are there as well, overall producing a mid-level in intensity pumpkin pie smell. Taste – The taste begins with a nice roasted pumpkin flavor with a good deal of a caramel and brown sugar sweetness. Along with these flavors comes notes of a lighter spice profile of a cinnamon and nutmeg as well as a little bit of allspice. The spice flavors remain at a more subdued level however and just add a nice complement to the brew. Some more bready and doughy flavors as well as some more sweetness of a brown sugar nature come to the tongue, leaving a rather pleasant and slightly sweeter pumpkin pie flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the slightly thicker to average side with a carbonation level that is rather average. Both are good for the pumpkin flavors of the brew and with the lack of super heavy spice create a rather nice drinker. Overall - A quite nice easy drinking pumpkin ale that is on the sweeter and not overly spiced side. A good brew.
