Squeeze those hops for all they’re worth and prepare to pucker up: Tröegs’ newest single batch brew, Nugget Nectar Ale, will take hopheads to nirvana with a heady collection of Nugget, Warrior and Tomahawk hops. Starting with the same base ingredients of our flagship HopBack Amber Ale, Nugget Nectar intensifies the malt and hop flavors to create an explosive hop experience.

While the brewery considers this an "Imperial Amber Ale" RateBeer considers it an IPA due to the hopping rate. There is no need to send any other corrections on the style.

Bottle. Amber gold and clear pour, foamy head that leaves decent lacing. Huge citrus hop aroma - some orange, sone grapefruit, alittle earth/rind, balanced really well toasty caramel malt. Similar flavors, the malt has a sweet full body, giving a nice palate for this IPA. Good bitter finish is smooth and not harsh. Very well balanced between hops and malt. Extremely drinkable. Well done.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2009 Re-rate: Aroma is really nice in the begining. Apricots and resiny fresh hops. But it changes as it warms into a werid combination of caramel and hops, which doesn’t taste all that good. Flavor is just not what I really want, weird combination of sweet caramel maltiness and hop flavor. The flavors really clash now and they didn’t to me at one time. oily thick palate that is enjoyable. Just not a good combination of flavors 6/1/2008 Re-Rate The biggest difference in my perception is that I really liked the combinatoin of hops and carmal malt flavors this time. it seemed to add balance and complexity and not the clash as I thoght before. just a side note: this beer goes very nicely with blue cheese.

Thanks to Zathrus13 for sending me this one. Clear dark gold color, nice white head. The aroma is great. The picture on the bottle pretty much sums up what I think of the beer, and I love it. Great stuff.

In pretty Westmalle glass @ Naven’s. This was delicious and is a perfect compliment to the soothing sounds of Cannibal Corpse and Celtic Frost. Great hop power chords and deep, growling malt notes. I wish I could get more of this.

Shared with Bartzilla @ Saturday night death metal tasting. Of the 9 or so beers we tasted, this was one of our favorites. Very citrusy, floral, hoppy. Great amber color. Taste was perfectly balanced. A very nice beer.

Bottled. Via trade with Doclock. Pours a clear, slightly dark shade of copper with an ivory head. Big hoppy aroma, pine, oranges, flowers and a bit of grass. Very lemony flavor with tons of grapefruit as well. Malt, a bit of caramel. Clean bitter finish. Very nice IPA.

smells like grapefruit juice. mimimal head.., light amber color. not enough hoppiness for my tastes initially but as it warms, the hoppiness really comes through. there is some grapefruit-y aftertaste but i will up the rating for the later hoppiness effect

Bottle thanks to gputty: Clear orange color with a smallish white head. Aroma has some nice citrus, grapefruit/lemon, some floral notes, really nice. Some more citrus in the flavor, a little herbal. There is some malt back bone, but this definitely leans more toward the hop flavor. Big plus in my book. Pleasent lingering bitterness, it isn’t a crazy assault on your tounge, just enough to let you know you have a nice IPA in your glass. No date on the bottle, but I’m assuming this is pretty fresh. Very, very enjoyable. For my first troegs brew, it makes a very good impression.

Dark amber body with a frothy head. Full bodied aroma and flavor. Citrus and fruits, some strong herbs especially in the aroma. Deliciously hopped body, with just enough well-balanced sweetness.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a clear, amber golden with a handsome, creamy, white head. Fresh, citrusy nose. Surprisingly light body - almost a bit watery. Somewhat perfumy aroma hops. Dry, hoppy finish. Quite lovely. 220406
