COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Squeeze those hops for all they’re worth and prepare to pucker up: Tröegs’ newest single batch brew, Nugget Nectar Ale, will take hopheads to nirvana with a heady collection of Nugget, Warrior and Tomahawk hops. Starting with the same base ingredients of our flagship HopBack Amber Ale, Nugget Nectar intensifies the malt and hop flavors to create an explosive hop experience.

While the brewery considers this an "Imperial Amber Ale" RateBeer considers it an IPA due to the hopping rate. There is no need to send any other corrections on the style.

Sharp complex hop aroma, which settles into a more mellow floral and malt fragrance, also get this distinct apricot overtone, light amber gold color, taste is mostly mild flavoring citrusy(grapefriut, apricot) on soft malt backbone,I really didn’t get a lot of the bittering sensation, tastey light delicious

Bottle. Pours hazy copper with a nice creamy white-tan head that last. Aroma is full of pine and some resinous character. Flavor: Some malty softness initially, then dominated by hop bitterness. Hop flavor is subtle. Finishes very bitter and dry and last for a few minutes after. My tongue is still tingling. Maybe a little oxidation in this bottle. Some alcohol warmth evident. Overall, a decent beer dominated by bitterness. I like it, but there are better tasting hop-centered beers out there.

Deep orange color with a decent thick head. This beer has a great balance of flavors dominated by hops but also a subtle sweetness and fruity taste. Wonderful fullness in body and taste makes this a top rated IPA that even dark beer drinkers would enjoy.

What a beer! Pours an orange color with a thick white head. There’s a strong note of grapefruit in the aroma with a piney backbone. That smell does nothing to let on the hop explosion you get in the flavor. The flavor is absolutely loaded with fresh green hop flavors. Piney as all hell with just a hint of citrus at the end. Absolutely wonderful and fresh tasting. Troegs did a fantastic job of keeping it real here. Using more hops in this beer than a lot of DIPAs but taking care not to make things too malty or too high in alcohol really allows you to appreciate the extreme amount of hops. I love this beer.

12 oz bottle. Thanks to whoever gave me this at the DLD06 gathering at the Hampton Inn. bright orange with a nice fluffy white head. The head was delayed at first, then formed after the entire beer was poured. nose is a hop boquet to be reconed with-resinous, green, lightly spicy, pine, and lots of grapefruit. somewhat earthy tones (fresh hops?). flavors are well balanced between lightly sweet and toasted malts with an onslaught of resinous/earthy/pine hops. Very nice! Body is medium with proper carbonation and feel. finish was lively green and piney with lingering grapefriut and other citrus notes. very nice!

Bought this 12oz bottle at Total Wine in McLean, VA. Pours a hazy orangy color with a nice frothy head. Floral hops aroma with a tangy citrus kick to it. Chewy taste, with some piney hops and light citrus notes. Dry finish, leaving you wanting more.

12 oz. bottle generously provided by slob - thanks! Pours a clear orange-amber with a small white head. Nice hoppy nose with balancing fruity and toasty malts, bit of dust, somewhat vegetal with citrus and sprucey pine. Nice rich malt with lots of herbal, dusty and lightly citrus hops, juniper and spruce bitterness in the finish. Medium body, gently tickling carbonation.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2007 Huge pine aroma escapes from the bottle. Transparent copper color. Strong citrusy and piney bitterness. A good amount of malt but no more than a good IPA. I’ve heard this is even better when fresh...rerate, huge vegetable hop flavor. sharp bitterness.

Bottle. Amber gold and clear pour, foamy head that leaves decent lacing. Huge citrus hop aroma - some orange, sone grapefruit, alittle earth/rind, balanced really well toasty caramel malt. Similar flavors, the malt has a sweet full body, giving a nice palate for this IPA. Good bitter finish is smooth and not harsh. Very well balanced between hops and malt. Extremely drinkable. Well done.
