SuperWhite92 (22), , Colorado, USA Mar 3, 2009 Bottled 010509. Nice orange-red color with a bright white head that dissipates quickly. Smell is very much an IPA- lots of citrusy hops are present. Taste is rather pleasing- a good level of carbonation that accompanies a caramel malt backbone that is quickly overwhelmed by the hops. Finishes okay. I don’t know if this lives up to the hype, but it’s certainly a good brew. If it were available to me, I’d probably buy it. Pwn3d (1036), Manhattan, New York, USA Mar 1, 2009 Updated: Jul 2, 20098 oz draft sampled at rattle n hum in nyc. Pour is copper and has slight whitish head. Citrusy and enjoyable. *rerate 7/01* Awesome nose of bitter hop, light flavor. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Mar 1, 2009 Thanks to tpd975 and kiefdog for allowing me to final get a try of this elusive beer. Pours clear deep gold with copper core and off white head. The aroma is very nice with a mixture of pure hop goodness from grapefruit, orange and tangelo with a modest malty sweet backbone. The taste starts with a sweet pulse of malts then quickly becomes full of citrus hops with the main players being grapefruit and orange peel. As the taste moves forward the hops become progressively more and more bitter. Solid brew. 41cubs (130), , New Jersey, USA Mar 1, 2009 Wow, nice beer. The first time I tried it I thought that it was too hop forward with nothing else going on, but since then it seems to have mellowed with a couple months on it and developed into a more subdued sweetness rather than a bitter bomb. The aroma just crept into me and I found myself craving intense hop ice cream because that’s the smell on this beauty. Taste is a real nice balance of the spectrum of hop flavors with some earthy floral, definitely some sweet and then some bitter dryness in the finish. Palate is just average but it leaves some sticky lips. Couple of months did it good in my opinion. Nice beer Troegs, thank you. 2008 12 oz. kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 1, 2009 Bottle courtesy of gibby. Pours a copper color with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of grapefruit, citrus, floral hops, some honey and spice. Flavor is sweet and floral with notes of citrus, grapefruit, honey, spice, some hints of caramel and malt. Generally light to medium body with a crisp floral hops finish. Snojerk321 (1911), San Diego, California, USA Feb 28, 2009 12oz bottle via trade with MrChopin. Pours a crystal clear rusty orange color with a 2 finger off white head that left great lacing in the tulip glass. BIG nose of piny and citrus hops with a touch of sweet malt. Flavor is also quite hoppy with a nice balance of hop bitterness and sweet malts in the finish. A great IPA! Thanks for this one man!! markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Feb 28, 2009 Thanks tpd975 for the share. Pours copper gold with a big white head. Nose is caramel, citrus, and some rosemary/ pine. Flavor is big malt backbone with lots of piney hops and a sweet caramel finish. Excellent beer. yesyouam (587), Fairport, New York, USA Feb 27, 2009 Troegs Nugget Nectar is a very clear amber ale with a dense, foamy, yellowed off-white head that leaves outstanding lacing. How can a beer be this hoppy and this clear? Who knows? The aroma is a huge blast of fresh American hops. It smells like a handful of hops. It’s no lie. It is medium bodied, very smooth and a touch fizzy. The finish is crisp, dry, and clean. It has a bold pine flavor with juicy citrus peel. It tastes like... essence of American hops. It’s hard to detect the malt. There may be a touch of pretzel. There is no distracting sweetness. It’s a miracle beer for hop heads. It really doesn’t come off as all that bitter. It’s just hoppy! How do they do this? It’s fantastic!
