gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 31, 2008 Updated: Jun 5, 2008Merritt Island Throwdown ’08: Bottle, courtesy mcbackus. Pours a reddish amber color, with a sticky white head. Hazy braids of lacing. Citrus hops, very aromatic and draws you into each sip. Assertive hoppiness in the flavor, with grapefruit and citrus. Bittered well. Easy to drink, and quite full of a nice hop profile. Delicious and refreshing. EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Mar 29, 2008 Updated: Jul 10, 200812 oz. bottle. Clear orange pour with a red tint. Some carbonation and a tiny white head. Wonderful aroma of piney hops with lots of citrus fruit, perhaps some mango and pineapple as well. Slightly sweet taste, perfectly balanced by the bitter hops. A little bit of malt. Quite fruity as well. Could use a bit more carbonation AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Mar 28, 2008 Updated: Apr 6, 2008Bonus from adrian910ss (Thanks Adrian!) Beautiful pour of amber/copper with an off white head that was gone before I could describe it. Nose is very hoppy and pine. Flavor is quite nice with an amber, malty sweetness along with a dry hoppiness. Good stuff. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 28, 2008 Can’t belive I have not rated this beer yet, as I’ve had it dozens of times. Anyway, it pours a clear clean amber color with sweet juciy hop aroma.Fresh juciy hop flavor with light malt thrown in to keep some sort of balance. This beer just drips with hop flavors. This year was better than last year. ATLBeerDog (280), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Mar 27, 2008 Pours a yellow, orange-red into a pint glass with ¼ inch white head. Fairly clear with only a tint of cloudiness. Smell of crisp hops accentuated with citrus. First sip is a bite of hoppy bitterness that does not fade. Nicely carbonated. A fine, fine Hoppy Ale. Bring on the Thai food! Beerman6686 (1259), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 27, 2008 Pours a hazy orangish bronze color with a small white head. Aroma of piney hops. Taste is also of piney hops, very bitter, but with a decent malt finish to small it out. I love this stuff! BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Mar 26, 2008 Many thanks to Stine for this bottle. Excellent citrus and floral hop nose. Less hops on the body with a very sweet malt character. jcr (1134), Jasper, Indiana, USA Mar 25, 2008 Bottle. There is a lot going on in this beer, but the sum of the parts is less than the whole. Dark amber body with an off-white head that diminishes. The aroma is very nice presenting toasted grain, tangerine, lemon with notes of flowers and citrus and hints of apricot and honey. The flavor is lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body with a watery texture and lively carbonation. The combination of aromas and flavors, though, are incompatible, leaving an off, slightly rubbery taste in the finish. Not a favorite.
