wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA Feb 26, 2008 Bottle from The Epeeist on 2/22/08. Pours with nice head. Amber color. Lots of melanoidins and big hoppy aroma when I pop the cap. Yada yada yada. Wow, I really like this beer. I feel like I haven’t enjoy many of the beers I popped at home lately. I pour many of them out (shudder. I hate to admit it, but they aren’t worth the calories). Then humbly comes along nugget nectar. Mmmm, mmmm, delicious. Super drinkable. I want a 6 pack. Reminiscent of double bastard, but more drinkable. Very, very good beer. Very sessionable. BigMilly8 (374), Holiday, Florida, USA Feb 25, 2008 From bottle : Pours a very appealing clear dark copper color, with a finger of foamy white head, that sticks. Nose of big piney hops, very nicely balanced with background malts, for a wonderful smelling beer. Taste is on the sweet side, but very nicely balanced again between the malts and hops. A very heavy mouthfeel, with a little bitter bite toward the end. Nice smooth palate and end with a pleasing soft hop aftertaste. Very good. nuplastikk (1157), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Feb 24, 2008 12oz bottle. Filtered orange amber color. Nice hoppy amber aroma. Sweet and drinkable. A solid hop profile comes through, but doesn’t completely dominate due to the amber malt taste. The hoppy Imperial Amber is a very cool addition to the beer world. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Feb 24, 2008 The color was orange/yellow. The head was thin, creamy, and white. The aroma was apricot, citris, and hops. The flavor was sweet, caramel malt, hops, and citris. The palate was medium bodied and smooth. The finish was hoppy. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Feb 24, 2008 Thanks bmartin. Pours a reddish amber with a one finger creamy orange head. The nose is very fresh and hoppy, wet hops, fruity, citrusy, sweet mango and orange. The flavor was nice, a little bitter. The flavor was a bit of a letdown. The mouthfeel was a bit thin and watery. Not as much of a body as I would have liked. The nose is much more intense as well. I still really enjoyed this. Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA Feb 23, 2008 Holy smokes.... What a f*#king delicious beer.....
Without a doubt, this is one of the tastiest brews out there.... Perfect blend of pungent ass hops and smooth roasted malts with this one...
I can’t get enough of this one.... I keep smelling it over and over before enjoying every hoppy sip....
This is just an incredible brew.... bma4573 (136), Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA Feb 22, 2008 Pours a straight copper color with a slight white head, which dissipated slowly. Strong piney aroma and flavor with almost a peach/fruit after taste. Very good IPA definitely see why it’s so popular, it’s really a different spin on an IPA and they’ve done this in a subtle way. Foam (5), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Feb 21, 2008 Hallelujah to the Troegs brothers !
Their masterpiece without a doubt ...
I unfortunately just found out that the local six pack shop that I usually get it at , is OUT !!!
Oh no ..
But anyway.. yes ... get this, seek it out ... the best and I mean best high-hopped beer that i’ve had ...
It makes sense given that I consider Troegs Hopback Amber Ale to be one of the very best that i’ve ever had, period ...
