Nose of floral and piney hops with honey. Bitter hits you in the face and stays there. A lot of earthy flavors with pine and grapefruit rinds. A little bit of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee. I know my first rating of this said that it wasn’t well balanced, but I think I was in a hop-hating mood the night I drank it. This is beautifully balanced and a really delicious beer. lethe (168), Stony Brook by way of Cincinnati, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 12, 2008 Amber-colored pour has an intensely hoppy nose with lively resin and citrus. Palate is smooth with lively carbonation. Flavor is basically a hop showcase with many nice pine and citrus notes. The finish is mouth-puckering and dry in a testament to the ibu level. Somehow this seems balanced and is incredibly drinkable, even though the hops totally dominate. I am glad I sought this one out. danhitch (17), USA

The smell was very fruity with a bit of alcohol. The taste was very nice. Pineapple and citrus were the first flavors coming through. As the beer warmed up, the malt came through a lot more and had a distinct biscuity taste. Very smooth and delicious beer. I wish it wasn’t so hard to get a hold of! dmtroyer (409), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

This struck me like a glass of orange juice. Good bitter and citrus fruits that do well with acidity and a blast of hops on the finish. Surprisingly drinkable, I could see this being a daily drinker. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 9, 2008 poured a beautiful orange with minimal head. Aromas of pine and grapefruit. Taste was very balanced - extremely drinkable. After taste lingered a lot less than many of the hoppier beers I’ve had. I had a 12 oz bottle, but would definitely buy if I saw on tap. I was lucky to get a six pack of Nugget Nectar sent my way thanks to Kempleton. Nugget Nectar has a crystal clear polished copper body. Moderate streams of carbonation rise to the surface supporting the pillowy head. A one finger creamy white head appeared on the pour and stuck around for the remainder. This is without a doubt a good looking beer.
When I stick my nose in the glass Nugget Nectar makes my mouth water. There’s a fair amount of toasted malt in the background but more importantly there’s a boatload of hoppiness jumping out at me. The hops are mostly citric but there’s some resinous hoppiness sprinkled throughout. The nose is alive with orange and apricot. A great candy-like sweetness.
The flavor follows in stride. Big sweet juicy citrus from beginning to end. There’s enough mlt in there to keep the hops from running away but it’s holding on for dear life. Although there isn’t a huge amount of bitterness the tongue certainly feels the hop load. Very nicely done.
The body is spot on for the style. Medium body with a moderate carbonation that creates a soft creaminess.
A very citric flavorful beer. An easy drinker without a doubt. The alcohol is no where to be found but at 7.5%, to use a too commonly used term, this is dangerously drinkable.
Nugget Nectar is one of those beers that’s right up my alley. Big citric hoppiness with the loved tongue numbing element. It’s too bad this isn’t available in my area.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2008 Thanks to mwelsh13. Earthy and floral hops in the aroma; peaches; a bit sweet; a bit of alcohol. Taste provides some strong, clean bitterness, again w/ earthiness and flowers; some sweetness going along nicely w/ alcohol to give it a rich feel. Palate is too thin, which is surprising as the aroma made me think it would error on the side of too thick and sticky.
