The flavor was very citrusy...like a sweeter pink grapefruit. Mouthfeel was thick and sticky and the flavor was a very well balanced citrus bitter and sweet. I liked it.
January 2009 - The original description still fits the bill, but I’m bumping my numbers up. Rich and malty yet puckering citrusy hops. If you are digging citrus, sweet grapefruit/orange, this is it, baby! Way too drinkable at 7.5% and all that flavor, too. doubleo (1104), San Diego, California, USA

Pours a brilliant, somewhat clear, orange color with very little white head. Smells pretty awesome. Nice and clean, sweet hop smell. Just a hint of greenery in the nose and a touch of citrus. Tastes hoppy sweet, a bit grassy. Really complex hop flavors, many layers. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Drinking this at 8am on a Sunday, damn fine brew. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Pours a clear amber with a big cream colored head. Smell is brimming with hops and bursting out of the glass. BIg fresh citrusy, grassy, and earthy aromas. Creamy mouthfeel with light carbonation and a smooth flavor. Hops are nicely balanced with the malt along with a zesty, spicy twinge at the end of the swallow. Moderate bitterness, and a bittersweet creaminess make this more drinkable than I imagined it’d be. Definitely a great, and sessionable IPA. xmarcnolanx (792), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 18, 2008 Aroma is huge amounts of piny hops with touches of some soapy citrus. Hops overwhelm the aroma and get me a little happy in the pants with this one.
Taste is initially slightly harsh and alcoholic. I definitely get notes of an amber malt base. The more I drink this however the more the alcohol diminishes and a biting citrus/pine bitterness stings the palate instead of the alcohol. Slight malty sweet backbone provides just enough body to make this interesting.
Overall, a very solid IPA, not my favorite of the style, but damn good.
I am also getting a lot more juiciness out of this one now. This is getting better and better! Miver (562), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA

Great big piney hop aroma with touches of citrus. Taste is piney with hints of grapefruit, orange, and a medium level sweetness that ties it all together very well. Balanced very well. This year’s batch is better than last and I didn’t think they could beat it. One of my favorite IPAs for sure. heylrule (46), Maryland, USA

A: A wonderfully rich-looking dark amber color flows forth from the bottle, loads of variously-sized carbonated bottles floating upwards from the bottom of the glass. Awesome to look at, and the lovely creamy head doesn’t change that.
S: Wow, just wow. Can you say, "hops?" I thought you could. This will NOT disappoint. The Warrior & Tomahawk hops really overwhelm the senses here...and just the right touch of malted backbone round out the smell here. Exceptional.
T/M: Fear not worrying that this beer won’t taste as good as it smells; it does all that & then some. A tasty, bready malt teases the tongue to begin, and then the hops & body kick in, pulverizing your palate with wave upon wave of resinous, hoppy goodness. An exceptionally balanced level of carbonation simply beckons each additional sip. Just about damned near perfect.
D: At "only" 7.5%, drinking several of these won’t kill you. And as good as it is, you WILL want several of these. Like, several dozen perhaps. Another HUGE winner for Troegs. Highly, highly recommended. mwelsh13 (483), Maryland, USA

Great hop aroma with huge pine and citrus notes. Nice initial hop bitterness with a malty body and bitterness at the end. The aroma and flavor hops blend nicely. Yum. Would like some more.
