ManvsCity (88), Redmond, Washington, USA Jun 20, 2009 12 oz bottle from Chuck’s in Bowling Green. A great balanced malty sweetness against intense hop bitters, but it all melds together into a very mellow mouth feel, followed by a full on pucker. This after the bottles have been carefully cold-aging since winter! There’s a pleasant mild yeast aroma, reminiscent of a good white wine. Very thin but lingering white head. Rich amber body. Slight carbonation. An excellent IPA. shawnm213 (841), South Bend, Indiana, USA Jun 16, 2009 Updated: Jun 17, 2009pours a clear orange with a small offwhite head. nice floral hop aroma. caramel. some malty sweetness. grapefruit. a little booze as it warms. pretty good. BigBeer45 (673), Troy, Michigan, USA Jun 15, 2009 Has a clear copper pour with some amber and gold, produced an off-white 2 finger head along with some white bubbles, head is fluffy looking, no sediment in the bottle, lots of creamy lacing on the sides of the glass, aroma of fruity, floral and citrus hops, some faint grass and herbs to, toasted malt, some caramel and malt sweetness on the nose,
flavor of lemon and grapefruit citrus, toasted malt, finish has a decent hop bitterness, drink starts out with some sweetness and is easily balanced by the hops at the finish and comes up dry on the palate, mouth feel appears light for a IPA but this is not bad, the lightness in mouth feel makes it easy be gulped, a great IPA, I recommend trying this ale.
beerfairy (7), Chicago, Illinois, USA does not count Jun 13, 2009 All I can say is this is one of the best beers I’ve ever had. I bought it on a roadtrip and wish I could get it where I live.
Appearance - Orangish amber with a fluffy white head and fantastic lacing on the glass I poured it in to.
Aroma - You can smell the hops and the fruity citrus.
Flavor - Very floral with just the right touch of hops. Peachy grapefruity flavors that aren’t overpowering.
Palate - Medium carbination with just a hint of bitterness sliding down the back.
Overall Impression - Exceptionally drinkable, not overly hopped. I’d have a keg of this on tap if I could get it.
Serving type: 22oz. bottle joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jun 10, 2009 orange with white head. moderate to high carbonation for the style. great piney hop nose. a lot of initial hop bitterness before a great piney, citrusy, and spicy hop flavor which proceeds some a balancing malt backbone with some alcoholic warmth that perfectly provides depth. great IPA, top of the line decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jun 6, 2009 A grapefruit aroma with semi sweet malt. A smooth bready like grapefruity flavor with a very nice medium finishing bitter. Medium/full bodied beer with very good carbonation. A nice drinkable beer that is too easy to drink at 7.5. Nice one TheOrange (405), Kent, Ohio, USA Jun 6, 2009 The aroma is big rich sweet hops. The pour is a light clear amber with a small yellow hued head. The Hops donimate the flavor, sweet, only a hint of pine and cirtus. The finish is sharp and clean. And excellent beer. baraciisch (138), USA Jun 3, 2009 Golden orange in color... Totally hoppy aroma... Tastes like a sweeter, maltier ipa with citrus and floral notes... Has the same gentle bitter finish of an IPA, kind of surprised they classified it as an amber, apparently they call it an IPA on ratebeer though... Pretty good beer..
