Big blackberry/raspberry character. Firm woodiness. Sweeter towards the finish, with yet more blackberry. Fun stuff - I like the balance. bhensonb (4404), Woodland, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 9, 2009 Bottle from Josh who flew it in from Charlottesville. Lots of gratitude. Beautiful copper color with a multifinger beige head. Aromas of hop waft from a foot away. It’s resin. Oh yes. Medium plus body with creamy/frothy carbonation. Flavor is fresh, light pine. I’m sure there’s grapefruit rind as well. But the pine is strong enough to remind me of the old Wizard Wick air fresheners. Must be some malt in there, but who cares. OMG this is hoppy. But it’s not excruciatingly bitter in the finish. Or maybe it is. Damn this is immensely great stuff. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 1, 2006 Fresh bottle that landed today in MD - Clear sparkling dark amber, creamy lasting white head. Strong pine and earth aromas are layered on light citrus and toffee, with a slight nutty tone at room temp. Moderate bitterness on the initial sips with notes of pine, earth, citrus, and soft melon. Caramel malt need not apply here...and it pretty much does not. Just a great unbalanced brew for the true hophead. Medium bodied, light carbonation, super dry, hoppy finish. This is a seasonal why? Should be considered for year-round in my book. Loved it! madsberg (5152), Søborg, Denmark

Herbal and flowery aroma. Spiced and fruity. Flavour is citric piney and has a herbal and flowery fruityness. Is heavily bitter in the end. Quite easy to drink. Light warming. Full bodied. I really dig this one. Thanks to Mullman for this really really good IPA. EKGoldings (447), Radford, Virginia, USA

As others point out, the hops are on the resiny-piney end of the spectrum and are nicely integrated into this IPA. Really excellent balance in this one. Tried this year’s batch recently (1/08) ... as excellent as I remember. Sparkling clear, perfect carbonation, juicy hops, perfect sweetness, excellent balance. A session IPA? Just great .. my favorite beer from this fine brewery. egajdzis (3645), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of piney hops, light citrus, and caramel malts. Piny, resiny hop taste with light caramel, and a doughy malt background. Creamy mouthfeel. Flanny (24), Severn, Maryland, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 26, 2007 12-oz bottle, 6-pack purchased at Latela’s in Jessup. Why is Troegs trying to call this an "Imperial Amber?" It’s IPA all the way! From the fresh fragrant aroma to the citrusy, sprucy, full, pleasantly bitter, tantalizing hops, which might be overpowering but for a light maltiness that reins them in, to the lasting aromatic finish, this is a hophead’s dream. Glad it’s back, and I hope it stays around more than last time. pineypower (1111), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 7, 2006 Updated: Feb 1, 2007Been wanting to have this one for a while.....Pours out a nice deep amber color with a small frothy head. The aroma is of intense hops floral, citrus and some pine. Very nice taste very hoppy but a perfect balance, which is hard to find in a beer this hoppy. Nice pine, floral, citrus hop flavor with a slight malt balance. This was a very impressive beer from a brewery I’m now asking why I haven’t had more of their stuff yet.
