Squeeze those hops for all they’re worth and prepare to pucker up: Tröegs’ newest single batch brew, Nugget Nectar Ale, will take hopheads to nirvana with a heady collection of Nugget, Warrior and Tomahawk hops. Starting with the same base ingredients of our flagship HopBack Amber Ale, Nugget Nectar intensifies the malt and hop flavors to create an explosive hop experience.

12oz Bottle. The pour was a clear medium burnt orange with an average (1-2 finger) off white rocky head that slowly receded, down to a puddled film and medium collar with good spotty lacing. The aroma was right up front with a bold hoppiness (pine, citrus and floral) along with a light grain malt and a soapy yeast with notes of caramel, citrus (grapefruit) and a pronounced fruity ester (pineapple and apple). The taste was lightly malty with a mild caramel sweetness and a hint of citrus at first, and then became intensely hoppy with a huge grapefruit presence and a slight fruitiness appearing towards the finish. The flavor lasted a very long time after the swallow, with a bitter citrus peel hoppiness lingering on for quite a while longer. Mouthfeel was just past light in body with a dry texture and a carbonation that was just beyond soft. Overall I found this to be a really fantastic Amber Ale with a ton of flavor and an extremely smooth and easy drinkability, which did a great job of hiding all notion of the high ABV. This is definitely a brew I will partake of again… www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews

Fruity/malty aroma, pale copper appearance, taste is lightly tropical fruity with a very nice hoppy overbite, and pleasing to the palate throughout. This a new go to for me during its winter seasonal run. I promise you won’t be disappointed if you can get your hands on it while it lasts.

This is a beautiful beer. Color is an excellent cooper with a pale head. I love a beer that leaves trails on your glass and this left my glass covered top to bottom. The taste is classic hops with a noticeable malt undertone. This beer makes my whole mouth happy. Enjoy.

One of the only good things about late January rolling around every year. This beer is ubiquitous in Philly for about 3 weeks before it returns to its slumber. An amped up amber ale that has rightfully achieved cult status. Great head retention. Biscuity malts with grapefruit and tropical fruit hops. Nose doesn’t adequately represent the perfect mouthfeel, balance and distinctive flavor of this beer. This is not a hop bomb by any stretch. It is a beer that perfectly features and accentuates the flavors of the hop profile, while using a lightly sweet malt backbone to increase drinkability. A perfect go-to, if and while you can get it.

Smells of clementines. The taste is fruity with a very hoppy bite to it. Not a hop head but this is still an enjoyable beer.

Gorgeous deep copper with constant rising bubbles. Thick foamy head. Pine, peach, floral aroma. Much more pine and herbals notes on tongue. Tug of war between bittering and stronger malt presence. Medium, wet mouthfeel. Absolutely delicious. Worth the wait every year.

"scores a 99/100 on rb, and i can see why. this "imperial amber ale" is simply great. the last reviewer had this to say "I challenge all those justifiably proud of their west coast offerings to try this beer" well, challenge accepted, and i can happily say this competes with the better ipas out west. recently had sculpin and would love to have these head to head. bright floral and citrus aroma with just enough sweet malt to balance. smooth tingly feel. flavor is a little tropical (peach and mango) and a lot of bitter grapefruit, with a splash of caramel malt. very well done! a wish-list cross-ff thanks to Lou! GREAT beer.

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2014 Draught at Tap House Munich. Dark amber, hazy body, with a big, very creamy, slightly yellow head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, peach, tropical fruits, caramel. Wonderful taste with the same aromas, also a very smooth biscuit. Mouthfeel is medium, slick, with a medium carbonation and it finishes smooth, bitter, with pine, lemon zest, fruits and biscuit. Wow, tasty! So smooth and amazingly balanced, sweet, fruity, bitter and piney aromas perfectly blended together! Also the balance between full flavour and drinkability is perfect. Completely worth the ratings and even more!

bottle. Amber with one finger head. It’s a hopped up amber with nugget and other piney hops. Pretty solid for an amber, but for a 100/100 rated beer, I’m a bit confused where all the love is coming from. very solid, just not exceptional to me.

East coast IPA (instead of the usual west coast) with thick, sticky, yellowish white head and deep amber colour with coppery hue. Very strong hops aroma but in a mild, floral and herbal way, grapefruit, bitter honey, meat broth, peach, rosewater, freshly grated ginger, pepper. Smooth, resinous, fresh citrussy fruitiness, peach, honeyish, bit caramelly in the background, supple, hints of thyme and sage, very long sticky, green, oily, herbal hop bitterness in the finish, dry-hopped. Delicious throughout, if you’re into this style like me.
