Perpetual IPA (Imperial Pale Ale, not India Pale Ale). In our constant evolution as a brewery, we’ve developed a drive to meld artisanal and mechanical. Perpetual IPA utilizes our hopback and dry-hopping to engineer a bold Imperial Pale Ale. We’re always testing the boundaries of modern brewing.

Bottle, 12oz. A clear, golden beer with a small, white off-head. Piney, resiny aroma with an almost stinging grassy hoppyness. It’s medium to full-bodied, with a soft carbonation and a good amount of bitterness. Pine cones, resins and some grass, with pale malts in the back. Lasting bitter, piney finish with pale malts. Too much on the malty side this one, even though it’s not very malty, and the bitterness feels rather harsh. But decent anyway. 150620

On tap at brewery. Totally acceptable IPA but nothing exciting. Obviously I am spoiled living in Asheville, but I honestly don’t understand the popularity of this place. People were lining up for mediocre in both beer and food. Horrible set up with poor service-- bad experience all around. Beer itself poured a rich orange with a nice white head. All the usual IPA notes- pine, citrus, resin with a medium/heavy slightly sticky mouthfeel. ABV pretty obvious. Somewhat sweet upfront and overly bitter in the finish that lingers. Would not seek this out or go back to brewery. Like Disney World in all the bad ways........

Clear why this is Troegs most popular beer. (If you get a chance to visit their brewery in Hershey PA, do the guided tour). Big pine and citrus aroma. Delicious hoppy taste with a bitter malt finish. Light carbonation so it goes down smooth, which makes it dangerous because that 7.5 can creep up on you. Very good beer.

Poured from bottle golden orange color with a thin white head. Aromas of fresh citrus and pine. Taste is juicy and slightly sweet with citrus and a nice hop bitterness.
