3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a clear golden with an off-white head. Fresh citrusy hop aroma. Medium body, a very dry fruitiness combined with very dry cirusy hops leaving a solid bitterness. In body I’d say this is closer to an ordinary IPA. 161211

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. A hazy dark golden beer with a huge yellowish head. The aroma has notes of citrusy hops and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, citrusy hops, and a bit of straw, leading to a dry and bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(22oz bottle from zathrus13). Pours a clear orange-yellow color with a trim white head and active carbonation. Aroma has resin, ripe papaya, and a little pine. Taste is sweet with a little bit of hard candy and resin. Pleasantly bitter. Full bodied with a sticky texture. Bitter, dry finish. Might be a little past its prime, but still better than many IIPA. One of the things I liked about this beer is that it wasn’t a heavy, overly sticky beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 22oz bottle. Pours a golden/straw color with a fairly thick creamy head. Aroma is some citrus and hops. Taste is slightly bitter with some notes of grapefruit. I could use a bit more malt backbone on this one.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Moderate to heavy malt and hop aromas of roasted and pine, light soap for the yeast, with wood, pepper and solvent in the background. Head is average to large, frothy, white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear light amber, but hazy on the last pour. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is medium, oily with a soft carbonation and a faintly astringent finish. Could’ve been bolder in flavor but this DIPA has great balance and perfect DIPA characteristics with rounder edges than most others.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cloudy copper coloured body with a bright orange glow, a thick off-white head and a bit of movement near the bottom. Aroma of fresh grapefruit, piney and floral hops with a lot of fruit smells, some oak and a bit of herbal dryness. Medium-bodied; Assertive dry and floral hoppiness with a bit of a malt kick and some subdued apricot and peach flavours. Aftertaste shows mostly of the hops, a touch of the floral bits and some light fruitiness. Overall, a nicer, lighter Imperial IPA, that I feel is just a standard IPA - but some good flavours and bunches of hops make this a solid, respectable beer. Still not as much hops as a California-based IPA, but nice and not too strong, because of the large format bottle. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, DC on 28-October-2011 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington on 14-November-2011.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
They seem to have done a great job taking all the bitterness and making it blend together smoothly. Amber color and can sense the abv in the nose. What troegs does well is creating sweet malt backdrops to pump hoppy bitterness into. If you love nugget nectar this one is for you. Granted the dry hopping gives the body some smoothness. Not sure I am a huge fan of aftertaste though with its caramel biscuit tone.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured into a snifter.
4.0 A: Lightly hazed light orange color. Three fingers of dense foamy white head. Retention is about average and lots of honeycomb lacing is left.
4.5 S: Lots of tropical fruit in this. Mango and pineapple are the frontrunners with some grapefruit and orange underneath. Really pungent with a touch of cat piss and resin and also somewhat earthy. Malts add balancing neutral sweetness and are clean overall. The Troegs house character is evident though mild.
4.0 T: Moderate bitterness. Hops are tropical citrusy, earthy, and pungent. Orange and grapefruit are strongest with pineapple and pine in the background. Malts are biscuity though clean. There’s a little crystal malt in there and some balancing sweetness. No evidence of booze.
4.0 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Reasonably creamy and super smooth.
4.0 D: Good beer. Another solid offering from Troegs. I super hate the label art, but I can get over it.

Another great bottle from Graziano’s Pizza. Slightly cloudy, golden color, very nice head that held, lacing and plenty of aromatic hops with light perfume of heather. Nice balance and full mouth. really a nice IPA, or IPA.
