Perpetual IPA (Imperial Pale Ale, not India Pale Ale). In our constant evolution as a brewery, we’ve developed a drive to meld artisanal and mechanical. Perpetual IPA utilizes our hopback and dry-hopping to engineer a bold Imperial Pale Ale. We’re always testing the boundaries of modern brewing.

2012-03-22. Lightly hazy orange body, nice foamy white head. Lightly pithy citrus aroma, orange, sweet grapefruit, tangerine. 7+ Flavour is similar, sweet orange citrus, tangerine, hits of pith and sweets. Lovely. Only mildly bitter, light alcohol in the finish grows as you go after being dangerously drinkable up front. Average bodied palate is quite smooth. Not super complex, but the citrus hop melange is quite pleasant. Very very drinkable. Tasty. Bottle from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo

From notes. First reviewed 9/22/2011. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a tulip. Thanks to iadler for bringing this over. This has a deep golden color, lightly hazy with a small sea foam cap. Lots of grassy and hay hops in the nose. Some light tropical fruit hoppiness and pale malt sweetness as well. Soft honey biscuity sweet malt up front, then grassy and hay hops. After a sip or two, I get a little bit of grapefruit and mango hoppiness. Not super fruity or flavorful, but the finish is fairly bitter. Although there is a sweetness up front, grainy throughout, resiny hop presence behind the lips. Fuller than medium body, with light creamy carbonation. Each aspect of this beer is good. Nothing is spectacular, but this is a solid beer.

A - Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a finger of frothy white head atop. The head fades down slowly leaving behind some lace. S - The aroma is full of tropical fruit hops with pineapple and grapefruit and just a bit of pine hops as well. There is just a touch of sweetness as well. T - Starts off with lots of tropical hop flavors with lots of pineapple and some good bitterness. There is also just a touch of grassy hop as well. Through the middle, lots of orange zest comes through alongside some more pine flavors. The finish is a mix of pineapple, orange, bitterness, and just a bit of pine. M - Medium-plus bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a resiny and bitter dry finish. D - Very drinkable. Really nice tropical hop profile with some great bitterness. There is not too much malt coming through.

22oz bomber into a pilsner. Pours a bright golden pilsner color with thick bronze highlights. Head is ample, retentive and solid as it masks the top of the brew throughout. A first for me, an imperial pale ale, but the title is quite fitting to the brew. Hoppy, pine, grapefruit, and organic and earhty soil are all in the mix. Yet the light golden color omits a pale ale presence through the indulging process. Aroma is hoppy, bittering malts, and fresh herbal satisfaction. I wish troges had the one more readily available to the masses. Maybe someday...

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2012 22oz bottle shared with garthicus. Pale amber-tinged gold with a large frothy white head. Mild aroma - pungent catty resin bitterness with light grain. Taste is pungent and very grainy - simple, good bitterness. Average body, good astringency, I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about but I like it. Re-rated September 18, 2012 - on draught at Blue Monk; fantastic aroma, better appearance and overall - original rating 7+3+7+3+15=3.5

Bomber from the Perfect Pour, Elkridge. Vibrant pale orange pour, with a handsome brimming carbonation. Nose is quite fruity but not excessively sweet by any means; rather, understated in a way that complements the dry notes that come out more fully in the taste. Moderately lively mouthfeel, with a bit of spice in the finish. Malts there for balance, but overall this is well done DIPA - light, clean, dry, and fruity.
