3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
rather hazy light gold. healthy white head, but not bubbly. Aroma is full of berries, citrus, cherry. Flavor is berry and orange, with light floral notes, and a big piney prickly finish that lingers on and on. No caramel is overtly apparent. Medium bodied. It’s good, but what makes this an Imperial PA rather than an India PA?

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very excited to try this. Bomber date was bottled on 8/11/11. Dark gold with an off white head. Weak aroma, faint grapefruit, pine and malt. Hop resin, malt, pine and faint booze on the flavor. Palate is too thin for a strong ale and too heavy for an IPA. I was expecting much more.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Clear light amber pour with a moderate white head. Aroma of fresh hops, citrus, and pine. Flavor is super smooth, hoppy and bitter. Booze is very well hidden. Excellent!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
My first Troeges brew, and I rather enjoyed it. It is a very solid Imperial Pale Ale. I was fortunate enough to get it 1 week to the day after it was released. I will say that because of the hop variety fresh fresher freshest. This beer will taste completely different in a month I suspect. If you have the option grab one quick it is definitely worth trying.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Loved it. Not quite clear amber, large white head, good retention, and good lacing. Nose of sweet malts and American PNW hops ... strong notes of grapefruit and note of pine behind. Great mouthfeel. Taste of sweet malts, orange peel bitterness, then sweet melon, then pine, then more bitterness, with a long bitter finish. Great stuff. Bonus point for coming in at a drinkable 7.5% instead of some of the higher numbers on other imperial or double IPAs.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz bottle. Clear golden brown with a foamy off-white head. Nose is pine and grapefruit; spicy, hints of honey. Quite bitter at first. Resiny medium body, almost sappy, briefly countered by crisp scrubbing bubbles. Taste is toffee, grapefruit, citrus peel, pineapple and black pepper. Not something i would session, like Nuggie, but would be killer with spicy food.

Bottle sample as a bonus beer at the organic beer tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 8/18/11. Clear gold pour with a medium white head. Spicy, piney and citrusy hop nose with some malt. Spicy and piney hop flavor with and earthy and grassy hop finish.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 ounce bottle into tulip, bottle 8/11/11. Pours slightly hazy golden amber color with 2 fingers of dense off white head with amazing retention that reduces to a thick lacing cap. A bit of nice lacing clings to the glass as well. Aromas of big pine, caramel, orange, tropical fruits, and spices. Very nice aromas here with good strength as well. Taste of big pine, grapefruit, orange, caramel, and big spiciness. Nice amount of bitterness present on the finish that lingers for a decent period of time with caramel, citrus, pine, and spice notes. Very nice balance of bitterness to sweetness. Medium carbonation and body, with a decently creamy mouthfeel. No alcohol noticed other than a very small warming after the finish. Extremely smooth and easy to drink as well. Overall an excellent and delicious IPA. Very hoppy and nicely balanced, with smooth drinkability.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Wow! A delicious IPA (don’t agree with the American strong classification). Big and hoppy all around. Aroma was thick and citrusy, with lots of pine and peppermint. Pour was the way I love my IIPAs- hazy light to medium gold. Lets you know that the hops are going to be dominant. Taste was all hops. Pine, pepper, grapefruit and hot spices in the front. Slightly resinous. Nice biting carbonation and a bitter wet aftertaste. Lovely beer
