Good imperial ipa. Slight aroma of fruit and grass. Slightly hazy golden color, hint of copper. Grapefruit and pine dominate the palate, with a dry finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
APPEARANCE - light golden color. Whisky white head.
NOSE - lot of floral hops packed into every whiff. Slight pine backbone and not much fruitiness to it.
FLAVOR - really smooth bittering hop flavors. They give way to mildly resinous notes, and other than the very first sip, hardly any of the floral flavors that treated my nose so well.
NOTES - Tröegs is always good for an IPA, and this one doesn’t disappoint.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Type: 12-oz. can
Glass: Lagunitas mason jar
From: Eddy’s Beverage Inc. in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Purchased: July 14, 2015
Consumed: July 24, 2015
Misc.: Canned on March 16, 2015 (I think)
Poured a honey, pale, hazy color with 5-to-6 fingers of off-white, frothy head. Lots of uneven bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Above average foamy, layered, spiderweb lacing on the sides of the glass. Great retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 4.13)
Smelled wet Cascade, pine, soap, caramel, floral, herbal and slight menthol. If what I read was correct (March 16 canned on date), then that is why the smell is just OK. (Smell - 3.63)
Tasted pretty close to the nose, maybe a tad more malty. Floral, pine, wet Cascade, herbal, light menthol, tropical notes and faint passion fruit. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 3.63)
This was a pretty good IIPA and I’m sure it would have been better fresher. Would like to give it another try. (Overall - 3.88)

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 12oz. A clear, golden beer with a small, white off-head. Piney, resiny aroma with an almost stinging grassy hoppyness. It’s medium to full-bodied, with a soft carbonation and a good amount of bitterness. Pine cones, resins and some grass, with pale malts in the back. Lasting bitter, piney finish with pale malts. Too much on the malty side this one, even though it’s not very malty, and the bitterness feels rather harsh. But decent anyway. 150620

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at brewery. Totally acceptable IPA but nothing exciting. Obviously I am spoiled living in Asheville, but I honestly don’t understand the popularity of this place. People were lining up for mediocre in both beer and food. Horrible set up with poor service-- bad experience all around.
Beer itself poured a rich orange with a nice white head. All the usual IPA notes- pine, citrus, resin with a medium/heavy slightly sticky mouthfeel. ABV pretty obvious. Somewhat sweet upfront and overly bitter in the finish that lingers. Would not seek this out or go back to brewery. Like Disney World in all the bad ways........
