Dry, nutty, leafy aroma, dry cocoa and floral bitterness. Taste follows, light, soft, easy to drink, just a touch of bottle metal. Watery mouthfeel, dry and mildly astringent with a quick finish and no aftertaste. I think this would be very very good on cask. Swalden28 (1449), McKinney, Texas, USA

Pours a dark translucent brown with ruby highlights, beige head with medium retention. Aroma is a nice chocolate. Flavor is light chocolate, slight nutty, with balanced hop flavor & bitter. Palate I was dissapointed with, just seemed pretty watery with medium-high carbonation. Over all, it seemed more like a tasty session beer......not bad at all..... abcfan (247), New Jersey, USA

Pours dark brown with thin off white head. Taste is nutty and vanilla, very smooth on the palate, with a solid malt finish. A very good brown! gringo332 (238), Richardson, Texas, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 15, 2008 I’m a bit surprised to be honest. This is the first time Troegs has seem to come up a bit short. This seems to be safe, which for Troegs is a little out of character. The aroma was very nice, with some nut, some malt, and some sweetness, perhaps prunes or cola. The appearance is a dark brown, with a thin white head. The flavor is chocolate, mildly roast malts, and some sweetness. The brew is rather smooth. Although I think it’s a bit safe, I also think it is a perfect session ale. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Pours a dark brown almost black color with a short lived tan head. Sweet, nutty malt taste, with roasty, nutty charred like malt, but lightly so. Medium to full bodied with some coffee flavors complementing the mild bitterness in the finish. Average to light carbonation, and nicely flavorful on the whole. Good brown ale. Strong tastes of chocolate, molasses and a roasted flavor combine nicely. Very good overall. weezfour (122), Oradell, New Jersey, USA

Nice dark dark color, big fluff of a head, smells like nuts, tastes like.. um, nuts. Not very brave or exciting, but tastes great, and definitely gets the job done. Nuts.
