abcfan (247), New Jersey, USA May 21, 2008 One of my favorite session beers. Aroma is sweet vanilla ant nuts. Pours dark brown with thin off white head. Taste is nutty and vanilla, very smooth on the palate, with a solid malt finish. A very good brown! gringo332 (236), Richardson, Texas, USA May 20, 2008 Okay beer. A dark amber. Not a whole lot of flavor for my taste. Nice sweet aroma though. DandyWolfFloyd (331), Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA May 15, 2008 I’m a bit surprised to be honest. This is the first time Troegs has seem to come up a bit short. This seems to be safe, which for Troegs is a little out of character. The aroma was very nice, with some nut, some malt, and some sweetness, perhaps prunes or cola. The appearance is a dark brown, with a thin white head. The flavor is chocolate, mildly roast malts, and some sweetness. The brew is rather smooth. Although I think it’s a bit safe, I also think it is a perfect session ale. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA May 8, 2008 Bottle courtesy of DrJay. Thanks!
Pours a dark brown almost black color with a short lived tan head. Sweet, nutty malt taste, with roasty, nutty charred like malt, but lightly so. Medium to full bodied with some coffee flavors complementing the mild bitterness in the finish. Average to light carbonation, and nicely flavorful on the whole. Good brown ale. Guinness4Duff (507), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA May 7, 2008 Rugged is accurate, this has much more flavor than your typical brown ale. Strong tastes of chocolate, molasses and a roasted flavor combine nicely. Very good overall. weezfour (122), Oradell, New Jersey, USA May 6, 2008 This is everything you would want out of a nut brown, but not much more. Nice dark dark color, big fluff of a head, smells like nuts, tastes like.. um, nuts. Not very brave or exciting, but tastes great, and definitely gets the job done. Nuts. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA May 4, 2008 Deep rich mahogany body with ruby red highlights, great clarity, and a thin light-tan head. Nose of roasted malt, toffee, chocolate, and sweet corn. Toasty, bready, nutty, woody, earthy, malty flavor. Medium , creamy body with a smooth, well balanced finish. Probably my favorite brown ale. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Apr 25, 2008 12oz bottle. Poured a clear dark brown color with orange highlights. Tan head. Aroma was of toffee, brown sugar, nuts, and a hint of cola. Relatively light body and delicately sweet with a nutty note. I also tasted some nice subdued flowery hop. Pretty tasty.
