Not a bad beer, but I personally don’t prefer the style. PhillyHomeBrew (176), Forest Hills, New York, USA

Drank it out of a bottle during a particularly frenetic brown ale fascination. Pours a ruby-red brown with a dark mocha head. Taste is smooth and strong, with subtle chocolate seamlessly mixed with vanilla. On the chocolate range, falls in the middle between the intense chocolate flavor of Dogfish Head Indian Brown and the chocolate-less caramel tones of Newcastle Brown Ale, making it much more drinkable as a session beer tha the DFHIBA. franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA

Smells nutty with a slight spice and vanilla. Taste is simple with a little hop and malt. Medium in the mouth with favorable carbonation. Awesome session beer that is good for all occations.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Pours a nice bronze color with slightly off-white head. Head dissipates really quickly. Aroma is not real prominent, but has somewhat of a malty character. Taste is a little bland, but the beer is very smooth. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side. Nothing spectacular, but very drinkable. bag (103), Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured dark brown (darker than I expected) with decent, medium-lasting head. Aroma was nutty, but very faint. Disappointing. The flavor was about what I expected... earthy and nutty. A bit watery without much body to it. Pretty good beer that I’ll get again, but I was hopping for better. NJJereme (263), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2007 Pours into a very light, almost non-existent head. Cotains more of a malty quality accented by hints of coffee and chocolate. Goes down very lightly, almost like a lager. dsm (109), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
