Ungstrup (14762), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 30, 2007 Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, and so is the flavor, but added light notes of nuts, leading to a dry end. Tasty for the style. grandet (477), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA May 21, 2007 DId not like this at all. Brown with small head. Too much malt and coffee for this one. agl108 (503), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA May 2, 2007 12 oz. bottle at Zeno’s, Penn State. Poured chestnut brown with a skim of head. Pretty nutty, malty taste. Roasty with chocolate and coffee tones. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 27, 2007 Bottle. Dark Brown color with quickly fading head. Sweet, carmel-ly nose with strong malty flavors and notes of chocolate and carmel with a nutty finish. Not bad. wcampbell (572), Central, South Carolina, USA Apr 22, 2007 Initial roasted malt, sweet, and slightly hoppy flavors. Well carbonated, but not a watery beer. The lack of complexity in the beer caused it to get boring quickly. jlf278 (252), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Apr 15, 2007 Pours with a generous head that dissipates quickly. A nice dark brown, with a slightly too light mouthfeel and plenty of carbonation. Unlike other brown ales I’ve had, there is a serious toasted barley flavor throughout - hinting on coffee, but I didn’t notice any chocolate. My favorite brown ale so far. LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 14, 2007 A nice and hoppy brown ale. I associate this type of beer with being very malty, but this stands out. Pour was a light brown with a white puffy head. Aroma of nuts and hops. Taste was (of all things) coffee and hops! A natural pairing! Nice wet finish with a toasted aftertaste. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Apr 13, 2007 Clear very dark ruby body with a small quickly diminishing light tan head. Nutty aroma with some coffee and smoked malt hints. Nutty and lightly smoked flavor with a gentle coffee bitter ending.
