decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Mar 3, 2007 12oz bottle thanks to Springslicker. A dark brown/red pour with a slight tan head. A nutty aroma with a malt kicker. A nice sweet flavor not much bitter. The palate is just a tad thin and slightly over carbonated for me. Not a bad beer thanks Jay MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Mar 2, 2007 Bottle. Hazy brown with a medium head. Aroma is nutty/roasty with a bit of chocolate malt. Taste was nutty with a bit of hop bite. Medium to light body. Moderate sweetness, light bitterness. Volgon (2487), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Feb 23, 2007 Bottle: Clear chestnut with a thin white head, rich malts and dark fruits in the aroma, medium bodied with ample carbonation, starts and ends lightly sweet. jonnabrix (136), Newberrytown, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 10, 2007 Nice looking, dark brown/mahogany color, this had a faint malty aroma of nuts, maybe little chocolate. The flavor was primarily of mal, again with notes of chocolate, nuts, caramel, and finishing with a slight hop bitterness. The palate was pretty thin, with little carbonation or alcohol presence. Not bad, not the greatest either. zathrus13 (1288), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA Feb 6, 2007 Pours dark brown, with a tan head. Aroma is malt, nuts, and brown sugar. Flavor is malt, hops, nuts, and chocolate. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Jan 27, 2007 Pours dark brown with a minimal tan head. Light chocolate malt aroma, with a slight hint of hops. Mostly chocolate malt in the flavor, with light notes of caramel, and a bit of hop bitterenss in the finish. Palate is light/medium, slightly bitter, and a bit of cocoa. Overall, more like a light easy drinking sweet stout than a brown ale. Not bad, just not much to it. skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 25, 2007 12 oz bottle into a Dimpled Mug glass. Thanks to Kirk for bringing this one back from NJ with him!! Pours a ruby light brown color with a foamed tan head. The aroma brings a very roasted nut sense with bits of roasted and sweet malts. Quite roasty overall, with a small sense of a buttery English brew. The flavor has a carmalized malt sense at the beginning before moving into a moderately roasted malt and nut body finishing out with a light bittered hop sense. During the finish a nice nutty flavor is present throughout as well. Somewhat thin of a palate feel, very light, smooth, and easy to drink. Nothing fancy, but a well crafted nut brown. k4df4l (154), DTown, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 22, 2007 Ruby/mahogany pour with tight foam that dissipates quickly and laces the glass nicely. Aroma of light hoppiness and caramel malts. Slight nutty flavor with caramel malts present again and overtones of chocolate malts. Medium to thin body. Decent beer but not a standout for the style.
