Commercial Description:
Tröegs Rugged Trail Ale is a unique rendition of a classic English Brown. It has a deep bronze color, rocky head, and prominent Fuggle hop aroma. Toasted amber and Chocolate malts impart a "Nutty" richness and creamy velvet texture.

Thick pour with a dark brown color, ¼” head. Well carbonated and full bodied. Smooth going down with an average ale flavor. I expected much more nut flavor to it. Great brew, I will defiantly buy this again.

Strong hoppy aroma. Pours a rich dark brown color with thin white head. Taste is almost a bit of hazelnut with some chocolate. Rich texture and a great drinking beer.

I really liked this beer. Had a good combination of sweet and slight bitterness. Definite combination of coffee and nuts, maybe a hazelnut coffee! Slight chocolatiness too. But nothing is too heavy, don’t get the wrong idea! The body is very smooth, and can be consumed ANY time of the year without peril! An excellent ale.

A good roasted nut aroma. A dark bronze color with no head. This beer is thin and a little bitter. It offers a mild nutty taste that fades smoothly.

12oz bottle via trade with slob! - Thanks Bert! - Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head that stays pretty well and laces the sides of the glass a bit. Aromas of caramel malts, nuts, and just a touch of chocolate. Flavor is earthy with nuts, caramel, and a bit of chocolate. Some roasty notes as well with a smooth palate. Just a little sour at the finish. Otherwise a solid brown ale. Would be great for a session ale.

A very enjoyable brew from the Troeg brothers. Very nice head. Kind of an odd aftertaste though.
