weepingsuds (222), Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA Feb 21, 2006 I really enjoyed this. A little low on the alcohol. But for a brown ale the balance between sweet and hop is right on. I would like to take this on the trail. IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Feb 17, 2006 Bottle Pours a clear deep mahogany. Nice thick tan head and heavy sheeting lacing. Soft woody malt aromas. Some dusty musty, notes as well I cant put my finger on. Flavors are quite subdued and uninteresting. Lightly roasted malts, wody, slightly sweet, with a wierd cardboard bitter aftertaste. Actually a bit surprised to see this w/ such a high style percentile. Not bad over all though dp (512), uniontown, Ohio, USA Feb 6, 2006 I expected more, rather bland for a nut-brown, not terrible by any means, just not what i hope for from troegs Jine (889), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Jan 29, 2006 Pretty decent nut brown. Not super nutty, but brown. I could definitely drink a few of these with a nice meal or just hanging around. It isn’t anything over the top but I would say try some out stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 28, 2006 pours brown with a small tan head, aroma of nuts and roast, flavor is hoppy, and coffee-like, with a meatalic after taste, ok body, nothing great here Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Jan 26, 2006 A typical brown ale with nuts and chocolate being the dominants and a light peppery finish. iratherbe (255), Marlton, New Jersey, USA Jan 22, 2006 Neither rugged nor nutty. A disappointment. I’m a fan of brown ales so that’s not the problem. Really much ado about nothing. An unsubstantial body, a plain nondescript flavor with not much else to write home about. Others with me generally agreed. Now that I’ve scanned the other reviews either I or they missed something. AdamSkillin (376), High Bridge, New Jersey, USA Jan 22, 2006 Toasty nutty malt aroma, beautiful brown color, a dry pleasant malt character without too much hoppiness. Slightly hickory liquid smoke/beef jerky flavor, interesting. A different beer for sure, but one worth trying.
