Commercial Description:
Tröegs Rugged Trail Ale is a unique rendition of a classic English Brown. It has a deep bronze color, rocky head, and prominent Fuggle hop aroma. Toasted amber and Chocolate malts impart a "Nutty" richness and creamy velvet texture.

12oz bottle that I have been sitting on for a long while. Served at 56° in my Duvel tulip. Pours brown with a cream colored head. Nut and a woodsy hops aroma. Big malty start with some roasted malt and some light coffee and chocolate flavors. Finishes with a bit offsetting bitterness, but the finish is to the just to the malty side of balaced. Better than average mouthfeel. Not a bad brown ale.

This is a good brown bear. It is hoppy, the way I like it. Not bitter, but creamy and smooth.

From Bottle

Poured dark brown with little off white color head. the Beer tasted light, not thick like i’m used too. Aroma I detected was of a toasted nut. Flavors when cold were nutty almost like a toasted walnut. As it warmed I got nutty chocolate flavors. Overall, I really enjoyed it’s smoothness. It was very easy to drink. I’ll be getting more

On Tap, Grey Lodge in Philly:Minimal roasted aroma and flavor. I found the beer very watery producing nothing in the way of a head. I was not impressed at all.

Pours dark brown with a medium tan head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is a bit sweet with some cocoa and roastiness. Flavor is a little weak and slightly metallic. Some mild nuttiness and caramel flavors, but seems almost watered down. Chalky finish.

Full nutty, malt aroma, but little of the hops the comm descrip states. Stills mells good. Dark brown, knocking on black’s door, but no one has answered just yet. This is a session beer champ right here folks. Nice smooth malt profile with a touch of roasted malt. This is the kind of beer that needs to be readily availible everywhere. This is the kind of beer that that lends itself well to drinking while you hang out with the guys. Thanks to Slob for another awesome beer.

On draught at richlikebeer annual festa. Aroma nice roasted malt. Tapped a nice dark brown foamed brown head. Taste was roasted malt and nutty, finishing out a tinge of bitterness and sweetness. Palate was enjoyable, not too heavy or light. A good all around brew that was enjoyable to drink for hours.
