walter (359), Staunton, Virginia, USA Jul 15, 2005 Bottle. Deep brown color, little head, and not much on the nose. Medium body. Subdued toasted malt flavor and just a hint of sweetness. Surprisingly bitter for a Nut Brown, which is ok with me. Wiseblood (658), Clarksville, Tennessee, USA Jul 13, 2005 Medium brown with a rich roasted malt aroma. Nicely rounded, smooth and somewhat warming. Flavors were more roasted malt and bittersweet chocolate. The nuttiness could have been emphasized more. Hop flavors took control at the end but overall pretty good, bold with a touch of sweetness. bigrond (1043), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 4, 2005 this was a good brew --- nice sweet with a smooth unique flavor --easy to drink again and again swirl (267), collingswood, New Jersey, USA Jul 4, 2005 This beer offered a beautiful pour showing an almost dark amber/brown with a good head. The aroma is earthy with a roasted appeal. The flavor offers a lot of nuttiness but backed by a smooth maltiness allowing each to blend and compliment the other. Definately one of the best brown ales that I enjoy. A sure bet for a good beer to try. Rockinout (945), Kent, Ohio, USA Jun 30, 2005 Faint dusty malty nose, starts out smooth, somewhat spicy and earthy, but is thin and not exciting. Just average. Nejhleader (924), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 30, 2005 Updated: Dec 22, 2006another great beer by troegs. nice aroma kinda roasted scent. Sampled at the troegs brewery nice dark taste. theacelatrain (262), Washington DC, USA Jun 25, 2005 Bottle. Reddish brown color with quickly fading head. Still, lots of aroma, like burnt nuts. Unimpressive at first, but flavors developed as my hand warmed it up, so probably just served too cold. beerbill (1918), Laurel, New York, USA Jun 8, 2005 12 oz. bottle. Pours a deep reddish brown color with a light tan head. Nice nutty aroma along with some malt, both of which also come through in the taste. Creamy mouthfeel. Very enjoyable.
