Tröegs Rugged Trail Nut Brown Ale

12oz bottle. Deep red color with a thin white film. Aroma is rich and malty. Flavors are equally nice. Rich but easy to drink.

pours coca cola with a tight head. seems nice enough. some bready doughy malts. nice and smooth. thanks

12oz bottle. Pours dark brown. Tastes malty and soapy. Not much to this one really. It’s OK but not that memorable.

On tap at the Beechtree. Pours a deep clear brown with a medium beige head. Nice stout or porter like aromas of roasted malt, with a hint of coffee. Medium bodied and with more roast coming through, and a touch of sweetness. Finishes with a nice roast bitterness and a little bit of grain. Somewhat one dimensional, but not terrible.

Pours a nice reddish brown. Aromas of toasty malts, brown sugar, and nuts. Flavor is lightly sweet malts and a nice touch of hops, and a nutty finish...it is what it is...

Even though I don’t love really nutty nut browns this one is balanced by sweet malts, almost brown sugar like with a little roasty bitterness to balance it out. Light and easy.

Malts dominate the nose with only a slight hop aroma. Medium ruby color, slight head, but durable carbonation. Caramel and chocolate malt flavors balance with some nuttiness. Some residual sugar and acid in the finish. This isn’t bad, but Rogue and Dogfish still rule this particular style.

Dark ruby color--light does shine through. Modest head that settles to a single layer of bubbles. Good lace on the glass. Chaulky cocoa smell. Weak. Quite thin, almost like water. Light chocolate malt with a mild hop kicker. A little one-dimensional, easy to drink, but not fascinating.
