Pastor (509), Maine, USA Apr 19, 2009 Bottle poured into a standard pint glass produced a finger worth of tan head that settled to a thick lace. The body was brown in color with burgandy highlights when held to the light.
Aromas of nuts and sweet malts filled my head. The flavor had some toasted malts to go alone with the sweet malts. There is a medium feel in the mouth with good carbonation for your tongue.
I think this is a typical brown ale good flavor and easy drinking. I like a few local browns better but I wouldn’t turn this down.
coldbrewky (716), Saugerties, New York, USA Apr 19, 2009 Chocolate malts?...well maybe a hint of. Nuttiness?......In a Jerry Lewis and Sammy Davis Jr, kind of way. Watery is not what I would call a "Unique rendition" An over sweet finish. Average at best. cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Apr 15, 2009 Aroma of sturdy, English style malts along with some honey roasted peanuts and a mild fruitiness. Chestnut colored pour with a lingering, thick head and nice, maze-like lacing. Light to medium in body with very faint finish. Extremely neutral and balanced. Plain toast taste with a touch of chocolate, brown sugar and mixed nuts. It’s a brown ale, solid and commonplace. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Apr 11, 2009 Source: 12oz bottle from a mixed pack purchased in Washington DC. Appearance: Deep brown with red highlights, half finger of tan head that quickly disappeared. Aroma: Toasted malt and earthy hops. Flavor: Pretty much all toasted malt, no nutty flavor, sour and metallic finish. Palate: Medium body and watery mouthfeel. Overall: Not a very good beer. I’ll give away the other 2.
Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Apr 3, 2009 Pours a brown color with a tan head. Aroma is of slight roasted malts, nuttiness, caramel malts, and some molasses. Flavor is a little sweeter than I was hoping. Roasted malts come out stronger at the beginning with the toasted malts and nuttiness on the finish. joeyplush (328), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 25, 2009 Dark color and tan head, more like a porter or stout than a nutbrown. Aroma is roasted coffee and malt, followed by very doughy yeast. I do have to say that the last whiff of the aroma is a bit foul. Flavor has a nice coffee bitterness but finishes light and smooth. branspra (204), Arlington, Virginia, USA Mar 22, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a large, frothy white head. Lacing is good. Aromas of brown sugar, molasses, and some toasted malts. Lively palate with a clean finish, creamy to start. Flavors of toasted malts, chocolate, and a bit of brown sugar. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA Mar 22, 2009 Bottle. Figured I would rate this one while I am already incapacitated. Drank from the bottle. 3/5 on appearance. Whatever. Smell is somewhat nutty smelling, with plenty of malts. Very few hops. Some sugar smelling as well. Taste is smooch and rich. Plenty of sugars, all in all, not ever good. Somewhat memorable, but a disappointment from this brewery.
