Commercial Description:
Tröegs Rugged Trail Ale is a unique rendition of a classic English Brown. It has a deep bronze color, rocky head, and prominent Fuggle hop aroma. Toasted amber and Chocolate malts impart a "Nutty" richness and creamy velvet texture.

12oz bottle from mrchopin. Troegs is quickly becoming my favorite east coast brewery. Rugged trail pours a lightly hazed deep brown with a thin tan head. Tons of toasted malts and hazel nuts on the nose. Flavor was malty and toasty, a pretty damn good brown.

12oz, bottle, nothing great... Fuggles which to me is too bland... definitely can get some sort of nuttiness in the taste,.. i guess if i had to i could drink this all the time... just not enough hops for moi

Bottle from sampler. Pours dark brown with ruby undertones and a small head. Aroma is oddly hoppy-sweet: it is more floral than anything else. Palate is thin, with a dry finish. Flavor features esters, faint nuttiness, and semisweet baker’s chocolate. Finish is slightly roasted, with bitter endings. Overall, this is Troegs weakest offering I’ve had. Palate is too thin, and flavor is indistinct.

12oz a mixed bag here. a Brewery my GF loves and a beer style that I rarely enjoy. Bonus from RCL. Thanks. Paired with stuffed peppers collard greens and ciabatta bread. Pours brownish with a tan head. Nose is sweet with a touch of toffee. Taste is sweet and rich with a touch of chocolate malt and some nutty qualities. Decent to say the least.

Slight toffee aroma. A beautiful dark red color with a thin, tan head. Restrained nutty malt flavor balanced with slight hop bite. Has a slight tang in the back of the cheeks. A toasted, crackery finish. A middle of the road nut brown ale.

Now I love Troegs, but I wasn’t a huge fan of this offering. It was pretty good, but a little too run-of-the-mill. Brown color with almost no head. Aroma and flavor are malty and nutty. Medium-bodied. Slightly hopped. Decent, but in a whole different class from, say, AleSmith Nautical Nut Brown.

12 oz bottle - pours a deep ruby red/brown color with small light tan head. Aroma is malty, fairly nutty w/ hazelnuts, toasted caramel, bit of wet oak. Flavor is malty, oaky, nutty, faintly roasty. Finish is mildly sweet. Decent overall.

Smells pleasantly nutty and dark. Taste is a little weak and watery, but very nice caramely dark malts with some nutty flavors.
