Rugged trail pours a lightly hazed deep brown with a thin tan head. Tons of toasted malts and hazel nuts on the nose. Flavor was malty and toasty, a pretty damn good brown. jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA

Fuggles which to me is too bland... definitely can get some sort of nuttiness in the taste,.. i guess if i had to i could drink this all the time... just not enough hops for moi elihapa (1052), Honolulu, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 19, 2009 Bottle from sampler. Pours dark brown with ruby undertones and a small head. Aroma is oddly hoppy-sweet: it is more floral than anything else. Palate is thin, with a dry finish. Flavor features esters, faint nuttiness, and semisweet baker’s chocolate. Finish is slightly roasted, with bitter endings. Overall, this is Troegs weakest offering I’ve had. Palate is too thin, and flavor is indistinct. Bonus from RCL. Thanks. Paired with stuffed peppers collard greens and ciabatta bread. Pours brownish with a tan head. Nose is sweet with a touch of toffee. Taste is sweet and rich with a touch of chocolate malt and some nutty qualities. Decent to say the least. njbfr (105), New Jersey, USA

Restrained nutty malt flavor balanced with slight hop bite. Has a slight tang in the back of the cheeks. A toasted, crackery finish. A middle of the road nut brown ale. nickd717 (1331), Palo Alto, California, USA

It was pretty good, but a little too run-of-the-mill. Brown color with almost no head. Aroma and flavor are malty and nutty. Medium-bodied. Slightly hopped. Decent, but in a whole different class from, say, AleSmith Nautical Nut Brown. JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
