May 30, 2007 Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, and so is the flavor, but added light notes of nuts, leading to a dry end. Tasty for the style.

Apr 8, 2002 A pleasant beer, but nothing special. Deep red-brown hue capped by minimal foam. The aroma is mild, buttery English hoppiness. The flavor is more to the malty side, nutty and toasty, than hoppy. Mild aftertaste.

May 29, 2004 Poured a dark reddish-brown with a very small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, nuts and light spices. Tastes of nuts with chocolate undertones. Smells better than it tastes (I expected more after initially smelling the beer).

The aroma is excellent. Buttery milk chocolate and toasted pistachios and almonds.
The flavor is malty with chocolate and roasted nuts predominating... much like the nose.
Well-balanced, but thin and watery.
Light-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation.
Crisp, clean finish with some coffee notes to finish things off.
