| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 14, 2008 Pours a very dark brown color with a small light beige fizzy head that disappears quickly. The aroma is kind of like a hazelnut latte. A roasty coffee with some definite sweetness. The flavor is pretty much the same. It has some coffee, brown sugar... almost like something from the Nutty Bavarian. The body is kind of light, but overall, it is a good traditional brown ale without feeling it necessary to completely over-hop it. Falconseye8 (525), Cartersville, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 24, 2004 Coffee undertone, chocolate, smokey hoppy flavor. Nut brown by Troegs is a very good beer. Again, another brew that may not be receiving the accolades it deserves. Its definitely creamy textured. I’m going to say again, Pennsylvania rocks and so does Troegs beers. Not a disappointment anywhere in sight. VA Homebrewer (525), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 26, 2002 RE-RATE: 11-26-02: Nice roasty flavors. Aromas of malt, very subtle earthy hops and some nutty aromas. Flavors are roasted nuts and light, earthy hops. Decent malt content. Mildly hoppy finish. Decent, but not exciting. Troegs’ whole lineup suffers from lack of excitement. ORIGINAL 5-25-02: Much more impressive than, say, Newcastle. Nutty, lightly malty, with a small hop note. Roasted malt aroma. Light brownish with a small head. Very enjoyable. maltdog (518), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 13, 2005 Bottle. Clear reddish mahogany, sudsy beige head, and spiderweb lacing. Subdued aromas of breadcust and raw winter squash. Very mild flavor, initially sweet, then toffee, breadcrust again, Hershey bar wrapper, and tin. Watery palate. Aftertaste is green-leafy, papery, and crayon-y. Very neutral and unassertive all around. Yawn. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 27, 2007 Pours dark brown with a minimal tan head. Light chocolate malt aroma, with a slight hint of hops. Mostly chocolate malt in the flavor, with light notes of caramel, and a bit of hop bitterenss in the finish. Palate is light/medium, slightly bitter, and a bit of cocoa. Overall, more like a light easy drinking sweet stout than a brown ale. Not bad, just not much to it. agl108 (513), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA
