Commercial Description:
Tröegs Rugged Trail Ale is a unique rendition of a classic English Brown. It has a deep bronze color, rocky head, and prominent Fuggle hop aroma. Toasted amber and Chocolate malts impart a "Nutty" richness and creamy velvet texture.

Rugged is accurate, this has much more flavor than your typical brown ale. Strong tastes of chocolate, molasses and a roasted flavor combine nicely. Very good overall.

Thick pour with a dark brown color, ¼” head. Well carbonated and full bodied. Smooth going down with an average ale flavor. I expected much more nut flavor to it. Great brew, I will defiantly buy this again.

On draft at Johnny Brenda's for happy hour. Grilled octopus and veggies were delicious. "Nutty richness" is front forward. Full, rich and round mouthfeel. Very pleasant.

I had this beer on draft at a restaurant in Gettysburg, PA. The beer had a dark brown color with a tan, creamy head that had good cling and retention. The aroma was a mixture of chocolate and caramel malt notes with nutty scents present too. It had a sweet, slightly nutty taste with only a bit of bitterness. The body was slightly on the thinner side, a bit wet and watery, without a lot of feel. A decent, but not memborable beer.

Not too bad. This has all the normal character’s of a brown ale but seems to be a smoother version of all that I have had. It almost seems like a lighter version of them. I’ll stick with Dogfish Head’s Indian Brown Ale or Woodstock’s Pigs Ear.

DId not like this at all. Brown with small head. Too much malt and coffee for this one.

Pours a nice bronze color with slightly off-white head. Head dissipates really quickly. Aroma is not real prominent, but has somewhat of a malty character. Taste is a little bland, but the beer is very smooth. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side. Nothing spectacular, but very drinkable.
