The crisp October air is thick with the aroma of fresh, green hops! This year, we brewed our annual Fresh Hop Ale with 400lbs. of freshly picked wet Chinook hops direct from the Yakima Valley in the Pacific Northwest. These über-fresh hops were harvested, packaged, and express delivered to our brewery all in the same day. To ensure the absolute freshest hop aroma and flavor, we brewed the beer within 24-hours of taking delivery of the hops. Dripping with the essence of oily hop goodness, Scratch #116 is all about those pungent, juicy little cones. The very first whiff releases potent olfactory hues of intense pine as well as subtle citrus and spices. You can’t get any fresher than this, folks. This is “vine to vessel” brewing at its finest!

Smells of dank, wet hops. Damp basement, sweatsock. The appearance is a hazy amber, white head. The flavor is caramel, earth, flowers, damp, wet rags. The finish is flowers, citrus. Medium in body. Nice overall.

On tap at Twisted Jimmy’s. Great floral-herbal piney hop aroma. Kinda dank and funky, too, with sulfury notes. Mild sweet aroma on top of that. Medium-dark amber hazy with thin off-white lacing head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts with nice orange and tropical fruit undertones. Big fresh hop flavor, with citrus, pineapple, and mild caramel. Finishes with bitterness and light sweet after.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear unfiltered light orange gold with a medium frosty white head. Aroma of fresh Chinook hops, tangerine, grapefruit and juicy fruit gum. Taste is much the same as the aroma. This was a treat. Excellent.

Bottle:   Bright orangish straw, pale haze, moderate frothy white head, nice lacing.   Soft floral nose, a little pine and citrusy pith.   Very subtle overall.   Much more KAPOW on the tongue, citrusy, clean hop bitterness, very smooth, very very smooth.   This one is great!   Some pine and pith, a little resiny, but all well balanced.   This is not a bruiser, its a very well put together clean IPA.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   I could drink this all day long.   Clean and well balanced, flavorful without being overly bitter.   Everyone one would want in an IPA.   Thanks Brian!

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a slight white head. Very ctirus hop nose, almost white grape like. Medium mouthfeel. Very smooth. A little on the sweet side. Citrus hop flavors, lots of orange. Pretty tasty. Minimal lingering bitterness. Pretty tasty without an overly aggressive hop profile.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a near clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has citrus and pine up front with a bit of backing sweet grains as well as a touch of onion. Flavor starts with grass and pine then finishes with light pine, sweet grain and a hint of onion.

Pours a clear yellow gold body with a small frothy white head that left tons of lace. The nose is super fruity and bursting with freshness, some mango and guava notes. Minimal pale maltiness on the nose. The flavor is super juicy and fresh as well, just a moderate hop bitterness. Nice lingering bitter finish. Minimal interference from the malt. Lighter bodied with a bit of clinginess and soft fizzy carbonation. Pretty nice stuff.

Bottle poured a deep orange color with a coating of white head that fell quickly to a ring on the glass. Aroma has light tropics, lemon, fresh wet hops, and a hint of orange zest. Mouth feel is medium light and there is a steady carbonation. Flavor is like a candied hop cone, light sweetness, citrus, mild tropical fruit, and a bit of leaf. Mild bitterness does creep up slowly and there is a bit of a twang on the finish.
