machfive55 (109), Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 18, 2008 A nice aroma that is malty and chocolatey, the stout pours black with a tan head. The beer tastes more like just a bland stout, there is a nice chocolate presence but I did not find that the coffee came through all that much. The mouthfeel was a little lacking as well. It is a good beer, but I was a little underwhelmed on this much anticipated beer from Troegs.
Cletus (3602), Connecticut, USA Jan 6, 2009 Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells roasty and sweet. Tastes roasty and sweet with some chocolate hints as the beer warms. Rich, textured malt profile. lb4lb (1605), Austin, Texas, USA Jan 2, 2009 Bottle in trade from JB175. Thanks! Pours dark brown to black with medium lived creamy tan head. Smell is roasty, with some coffee and creamy notes. Taste is lightly charred malt and a touch of coffee and fairly bittered from the dark malt or hops. Tastes more and more strongly of coffee as I drink it. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Pretty solid beer. JB175 (1451), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 22, 2008 Darker brown in color with a bold, roasty, coffee-heavy aroma. Flavor has a nice amount of coffee and a hefty roast to it with hints of chocolate and malty sweetness. Nice finish - solid coffee stout. bp (357), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 17, 2008 Bottle: pours a dark brown with a thin tan head, aroma of coffee and chocolate, taste is malty, coffee, bitter, lighter body than I like to have in a stout. Still, solid stuff...would be nice if Troegs made this one regularly. jeff789 (130), Pennsylvania, USA Dec 17, 2008 Pours a deep deep brown with a caramel head with moderate lacing.... Smells of bitter chocolate and coffee... Taste as it smell with a lingering bitterness... Finishes medium bodied...
