A thin, primitive porter that rounds the expected bases. A bit more red and watery than I prefer, but it’s fun to take a look at the early days of Troegs.

12 oz. bottle via trade with jasonmech77 - Pours a brown color with a one and a half finger thick light tan head. Light spotty lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, herbal hops, peat, and dried fruit. Flavor is roasted malt, peat, and light esters with a hop bite. Palate is a little thin and quite dry. A nice beer. Thanks Jason.

This hit the typical porter notes - plenty malty. A bit watery, but not bad at all.

Bottle... Clear, deep orange ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Earthy, herbal aroma of chocolate, almonds and raw-hide with a whiff of smoke. The flavor is balanced nicely; caramel, toffee and citric hops. Crisp and refreshing for a porter. Medium-bodied with medium carbonation. Short, crisp, mostly clean finish. I’m not quite sure where the brewers were going with this one, but their efforts resulted in a mellow, very drinkable porter. Thanks go out to mgumby10 for breaking out the bottle at boboski’s!

From SecretSanta! Pours a fairly clear brown with a small light tan head. Weird smell. Smells of some grassy hops, sweet dark malts, and mild nuts. The taste is a little bit watery on the palate, a good amount of nuts and roasty malts. Really mild chocolate comes through up front, but turns into roasty bitterness in the finish, and lingers in the aftertaste. A little unusual for this style. The hops definitely are detectable in the aroma and the flavor. Cant say I cared for it that much.
