Thanks to thirdeye11 for sharing this bottle. The beer pours a yellow-orange color with a white head. The aroma is earthy hops, dirt and some bready malt. The flavor is citrus hops, dirt and earthy hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Decent, but not as good as some of the other Scratch beers I have tried.

(12oz bottle thanks to Nellie) clear rich orange-yellow with oily bubbles. Nose of vanilla, golden raisins and caramel. Taste of burnt grain, caramel, toasty, mild alcohol, and maple with a smooth finish.

a decent brew. Not the best offering from Troegs but still a nice change of pace. give it a try.

I rated it low in everything but overall. I know, it’s not pretty, it’s not exciting, but it’s good. Don’t ask me to explain.

Lightly hazy golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of honey, toasted malts, dough, citrus fruits, and light alcohol. Taste of toasted malts, toffee, citrus fruits, some honey, bread, and light alcohol as well.

12 oz. bottle as a trade bonus from dkachur- thanks again, Dan! Pours a cloudy orange-amber with an initially large off-white head that turns into a chunky, uneven cap on the beer which leaves a little sloppy lacing. Aroma of orange citrus, bready Bavarian malts, toasted grains, yeast, spices, and grass. Flavor of sweet malts, toasted grains, pepper, yeast, spices, orange citrus, medicinal notes, and alcohol. Light-medium bodied, with sharp carbonation and a spicy mouthfeel. Finishes dry. Very unusual, and I wouldn’t even know how to begin categorizing it. Uneven but intriguing.

Bottle from Capones. Pours medium amber, topped with a medium sized off white head. Bready aroma, with notes of white pepper, grass, coriander, and yeast. Flavor begins with some orange, grass, toasted malt, honey, and fruit, notably peach and tangerine. finish is a bit bitter, with citrus and spice. Medium body, very drinkable.

Nice, bready, balanced, lightly toasted and quaffable. Aroma was of lightly soured nectarines or peaches and lightly toasted bread crust. Really handsome hazy medium orange/tan. Flavor was just sweet enough to please and just raw enough with the grains to make you want to quench your thirst again, really balanced but all characteristics were understated. Almost belgian ale like in the carbonation with small bubbles melding with substantial body Nice beer that had a background vegetal twinge but nowhere like the Smuttynose version. Thanks Troegs. 2010 12 oz.
