Draft. OK, it must have been very late in the session when I tried this one, because my notes just say "sweet" and w whole bunch of exclamation points.

Bottle from michael-pollack. Bottling No. "Belgian Brown". Pours dark ruddy amber with a creamy light beige head. Fairly strong aroma of raspberries. Med+ body. Flavor is raspberry followed by chocolate. And it stays that way. Slightly sour, slightly sweet, very raspberry and chocolate.

hopscotch (9512) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 7, 2011
Bottle… Clear burnt-orange ale with a rosy tint and a small, fizzy, off-white head. Decent retention. The bouquet is of raspberry jam with a whisper of vanilla and a rumor of clove. Medium-bodied with laid-back carbonation. The flavor showcases tart raspberries flanked by mild malt sweetness and low hop bitterness. Tangy, ultra-dry finish. Bottle courtesy of darkguardian!

JoeMcPhee (8551) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - APR 28, 2011
Bottle. Deep brown-amber. Softly fruity aroma with a sort of artificial cherry character. Flavour of cheap cherry cough syrup with a lingering woody astringency. Really, really medicinal. Bleh.

DocLock (8054) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 24, 2011
Bottle from my Harrisburg Hookup. Pours hazy ruby with minimal off-khaki head. Nice ruby appearance. Nose is earthy yeasty brown sugar, red vinous fruit, a bit like the Mad Elf nose. Tastes of raspberry, cacao, earthy funky spicy malt, vanilla, and a smooth, slightly sweet finish. Very complex and a very unique style. The raspberry and cacao meld well as it warms to give a psuedo-German chocolate cakey kind of undercurrent.

Ughsmash (7181) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 8, 2011
Bottled. Poured reddish-amber with a short, but easily-resuscitated pinkish-beige head. The aroma picked up raspberry seeds and meat above all else.. some chocolate and nutty notes beneath.. vanilla worked hard as it warmed up.. overall deep and complex. The flavor found sweeter raspberry and cocoa throughout.. tangy raspberry seeds and sweet vanilla on the edges.. nutty notes, vanilla, and raspberries on the long finish. Medium-bodied and sweet, yet dry on the palate.. solid feel, but I could’ve used more tartness from the raspberries.
