3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 IrishBoy (3617) - Bakersfield, California, USA - JUL 21, 2012
12 oz bottle from TheEpeeist, another he found me in my favorite style. Nose is berries, chocolate, and yeast with only a slight bit of cloves but lacking in any banana esters. Very lightly hazy amber with a medium, lightly lacing beige head. Flavor is berries, cocoa, and a bit of bitter.

Bottle thanks to Dmac. Pours out a strange, birch beer color with a small white head. Aroma is of dried fruits, caramel, sweet syrup and light rubbing alcohol. Taste is of stale bubblegum, sweet fruits, fig, rotted berries.

on tap at the brewery’s tasting room pours dark amber, silkey white head on top, good retention. Nose is light, slight clove, and roast. Taste is nutty, banana, light spice, and cocoa on the finish. I enjoyed this one.

12 oz bottle thanks to Jimmie. Poured a dark ornagey brown body with an average sized tight foamy off white head with loads of floaties. Aroma is flat out bad, it’s sort of like the end of a cherry Tootsie Pop right as the Tootsie Roll center is revealed but far more medicinal. Throw in some rotted black bananas and uncooked dough. The body is fizzy from carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and an aftertaste that lasts far to long for the flavor of this beer. Flavor is similar to the aroma with that medicinal cherry Tootsie Pop along with some seltzer and seedless rye bread. This was an abomination, just bad all around.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ughsmash (6669) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - APR 14, 2012
Bottled. Poured hazy medium amber with an inch or so of uniform, well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up a whole lot of cocoa and a whole lot of banana, with chocolate-covered raspberries and sweet nutty notes accenting.. very interesting. The flavor found nutty notes, cocoa, vanilla, and a bit of tart wheat at the core.. chocolate-covered berries emanate outward, along with dry wheat and cocoa powder.. more berries, chocolate, and tart wheat on the dry finish. Medium-bodied with hefty carbonation on the palate.. dry as mentioned.. good feel and flow.. this was interesting, and I’d gladly have another.

Bottle. Pours turbid rusty ruby coppery with 2-finger khaki head. Nose is earthy brown sugary vanilla, berries, definite cacao. Tastes of berries, earthy brown sugary caramel malt, berry, and a slightly fruity and sweet finish with a high level of complexity.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 PhillyCraft (1971) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 1, 2012
On tap at brewery, poured a dark brown with a red tint. Crazy lacing, small head.Aromas of lavender, bannana, dark cocoa, cloves, shampoo. Taste is hershey bar rust with a little malt and fruity notes hidden. Overall it tasted like a choc tootsie pop. Not bad.

On tap for growler fills at Half Time. Pours a hazed brown with a medium to large beige head. Soft sourness, cocoa on the nose, and a strange amount of fruitiness. Medium bodied, sweet, reminiscent of Troegenator, but too fruity and not balanced. Soft cocoa, toast, light tanginess. Cocoa Pebbles. Odd, but at the least drinkable, just not very much, as the weird fruitiness makes it unpalatable eventually.

Bottle... Poured dark amber with a thin head. Nice sweetness and crockery malt flavors. Low alcohol appearance probably masked by fruit characters. Earthy and balanced. Nice bock, but not very Reinheitsgebot ;-)
