Bottle... Pours dark brown - practically black - with a small, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The aroma features dark chocolate and deeply roasted malts with hints of molasses and leather. Medium to full-bodied with tingly carbonation. Tastes almost like a Danish imperial stout - burnt malt accompanied by tannic, rindy bitterness. Finishes scorched and tongue-numbing. Not very bitter for 100 IBUs. Bottle generously shared by growler!

Bottle on the RBSG 2012 bus. Pours a lot more brown than ’black.’ Bready, light roasty, herbal old hops, clearly getting a little long in the tooth. Bitter finish.

Dark brown with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of cocoa, a bit of roast, pine, and light citrus. Taste of citrus, pine, light tobacco, some cocoa, some sweetness, and a hoppy finish.

355mL shared on the RBSG bus. Poured clear brown, small sticky lace. Nose is cheesy, herbal, nutty. Black IPA? Taste is very bitter, roasty, heavy bitterness. Long, hoppy finish. Definitely Black IPA.

Pours dark red to black. Aroma: sticky hop resins, ripe grapefruit, spicey hops, dank resins, mild fruits and herbal hop notes with chocolate roast notes. Flavor is ripe hop oil lots of roast and chocolate with a super bitter an lasting finish. flavorful beer but I could use less bitterness.

12 oz bottle from Capones. Poured a thinner density dark black with a foamy beige head. Aroma of wet dog, rotting citrus meat, bad vanilla, wet burnt toast. Full bodied with average carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel along with a bitter finish. Flavor is superior to the aroma, notes of burnt toast, bitter yellow grapefruit, old burnt coffee, roasty. Good beer, probably even better when fresher.

Bottle. Pours turbid chestnut with 2-finger tan head that laces well. Nose is roasty dark malts, cacao, perfumy florals, resiny hops, and cinnamonny spices. Smells a lot like Alpha Klaus. Tastes rich, very resiny and peppery hoppy, with big roasty cacao, chocolatey malt, and a super IBU-laden finish. This is one of the better examples of this style, and I hope they call it Big Black Bitter Bulldozer.

bottle from Capone’s. Pour charcoal with brown hew with some head that lingers around the edge of the glass. nose is sweet with aldehydes and mild esters , roasted broown malt, slight hops. first sip is similar with more coco, coffee, and lik chocolate. finish is blance of most od tnee developed flavors.

12 oz bottle. Pours a black cola with a medium sized tan head. Aroma of black resiny pine tar, grapefruit and sweet malt. Taste of grapefruit, pine tar, and sweet malt. Nicely done.

12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown with an averaged sized off white head. Lacing left on the glass. Aromas of pine, floral, some roast, burnt, and very light chocolate lurking in the background. Tastes of chocolate, roast, some citrus, caramel, and lighter pine.
