Bottle. Pours turbid chestnut with 2-finger tan head that laces well. Nose is roasty dark malts, cacao, perfumy florals, resiny hops, and cinnamonny spices. Smells a lot like Alpha Klaus. Tastes rich, very resiny and peppery hoppy, with big roasty cacao, chocolatey malt, and a super IBU-laden finish. This is one of the better examples of this style, and I hope they call it Big Black Bitter Bulldozer.

Pours black with a thick tan head...nice lacing and retention. Aroma has roast and burnt notes with citrusy hops. Flavor is very hoppy...citrus quickly dominated by pine atop burnt notes and dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is burnt/roasty, piney/bitter/ and dry...lingering.

12 oz bottle. Pours a black cola with a medium sized tan head. Aroma of black resiny pine tar, grapefruit and sweet malt. Taste of grapefruit, pine tar, and sweet malt. Nicely done.

12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown with an averaged sized off white head. Lacing left on the glass. Aromas of pine, floral, some roast, burnt, and very light chocolate lurking in the background. Tastes of chocolate, roast, some citrus, caramel, and lighter pine.

Pours perfectly unclear brown amber with a big sandy head. The aroma is the best part, zesty citrus hops. There is a creamy body, toasty but not over roasted with the hops more subtle on the flavor than on the nose.

I enjoyed this beer a lot. Starting out at first sit it took some getting used to. But after the glass was empty I had a much better respect for it. If you happen to be passing by Hershey PA stop by Troegs and get a tall boy of this one!

Bottle at home. Poured a pitch black with a two-finger khaki head and great lacing. Absolutely no light coming through this beer. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, light char, citrus, and a hint of pine. Taste is very thick and smooth with flavors of big cocoa, espresso, some roast, hints of vanilla and marshmallow, grapefruit, and grass with a moderately/lingering bitter finish. Thick and creamy mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Overall, a very smooth and easy drinking beer and perfect for any season. Well done.

Pours deep black with a small frothy head that lingers for only a bit. Aroma of hops and a bit of coffee and caramel. Taste is hoppy and a bit bitter, a little bit of sweetness up front. Mouthfeel is slightly watery. Overall one of the nicest Black IPAs I've had.

Big leafy herbal hop aromas. Roasted dark bitter chocolate and citrus hop flavors. Overall a very good black IPA.

12 oz bottle. Dark brown with a bubbly beige head. Nose is pink grapefruit, caramel. maraschino cherry and pine. Creamy medium body with a tingle. Taste is cat, toffee, pine and lemon pith; then cocoa and iced and coffee. Dark notes accentuate the bitter hops but also add some richness. Might not have picked this up if i remembered it was a black IPA but turned out to be quite good.
