12oz bottle, courtesy of mj. Thanks, Mike! My nose works this time, so I get to rate it. Pours a murky, orange-brownish color; off-white head with fine-bubbled lacing. Very generous aroma showing brown sugar, cloves, and bananas. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: plenty of cloves, bananas, and chewy brown sugar; a bit muddled in the expression (following the aroma), but very generous and satisfying otherwise; a solid weizenbock. Lengthy finish: brown sugar and cloves, mostly; some dough at the end.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2008 12oz bottle from hopdog. Not too familiar with the weizen bock category but I do like this example quite a bit. Banana bread and clove spice on the nose. Rubber bands and bread dough as well. Pours a murky thick brown with a creamy off white head. Nutty spicy and doughy flavor profile. Plenty of clove spice too.very pleasant bready spice. Thick, creamy with decent carbonation. Fantastic mouth feel. Well done!

Provided by stinky Mike. Muddy brown body with a tiny beige head. Sweet, spicy nose with banana, golden raisins, clove, cinnamon and plenty of herbal and floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet with lots of clove and pepper, raisins, banana, peach and flowers. Medium body is soft with moderate carbonation.

12oz bottle (thanks Tom for brining these back for me!). Poured a deeper and cloudy brownish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of cloves, bananas, yeast, wheat, and more spices. Tastes of spices, lighter bananas, bread, and yeast.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a milky brown with some golden notes and a nice creamy off white head that left spotty lacing. Aroma of banana, clove, wheat, some grains, toasted malt, touch of caramel. Flavor was a lot of the same with the banana and clove esters, some toasted and caramel notes. Really enjoying these Scratch beers. #8 sounds interesting...a Belgian golden strong ale with the Mad Elf yeast and star anis.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2008 Draft at the brewery and later from a 12oz bottle. Muddy thick brown colored body under a well-formed creamy tan head (better head from draft). Nose of semi-sweet yeast esters: banana, wheat bread, cloves, moderate alcohol presence, and with a touch of milk cream thrown in. Smooth, unsweet and unbitter, but not dry at all... even has some grainy chewiness, much like how dissolved bread would feel on the tongue. Flavors center around bready, doughy bananas, prickly, moderately sharp yeast (there’s a ton of yeast in this one), and a nice, mild warming of the throat in the finish. A good one for sure!
