Commercial Description:
Revisiting Scratch #3, we take the same Tripel recipe, add beet and cane sugars to the kettle, and run the wort through our hopback brimming with juniper berries, coriander and yarrow flowers.

Inspired by the herbaceous nose of gin, the berries and flowers give a slight pine/citrus aroma with floral undertones. Scratch #8 has a dry, yeasty finish and noticeable alcohol warming when consumed.

Pours amber and hazy with a thin white head. Smells sugary and dry. Tastes dry and spicy with some clove and hints of resin and juniper on the finish. Unusual but enjoyable beer.

Pours a hazy bright yellow with a tad thin white head. The nose is spicy, very pungent, peppery, rotten fruit, gross. The flavor is astringent, peppery, sweet, strange, warming spice. The palate is astringent.

Bottle shared at the Carolina Crew tasting by ucusty - thanks, David! Second most confounding beer of the tasting? A weird golden pour, with a nose that’s complex in the unsettling way: baby powder, flour, biscuits, and cinnamon. Strange spice, diacetyl, and yeast in the taste. I kept thinking of Fat Bastard from the Austin Powers movies, which is not a good sign however you understand that.

Bottle shared by ucusty. Yikes. What is going on here? A hazy golden pour with a thin head... looks decent enough... oh, but then the aroma hits and overpowers! Baby powder, cheap perfume, hibiscus. Yowsah. Also didn’t realize it was 10%. Suprisingly tastes better than it smells, but this was not a beer I enjoyed.
