COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Revisiting Scratch #3, we take the same Tripel recipe, add beet and cane sugars to the kettle, and run the wort through our hopback brimming with juniper berries, coriander and yarrow flowers.

Inspired by the herbaceous nose of gin, the berries and flowers give a slight pine/citrus aroma with floral undertones. Scratch #8 has a dry, yeasty finish and noticeable alcohol warming when consumed.

Bonus bottle from JB175 - thanks Jason! Thought this was going to be a Saison when I opened it, but was soon corrected. Full juniper berry flavor with very floral nose. Finishes like a Belgian pale or a Saison, with a misty yeasty hop flavor. No indication it’s 10%, but I agree with Oakes that it could be balanced better.

Bottle (12oz). Shared by blankboy with me and garthicus. Hazy gold pour with a small white head. Sweet dry spice aroma, slightly grassy; simple. Light-tasting, peaches, fresh grassy bitterness, quite yeasty. Sticky mouthfeel, average body, slightly astringent and weakly carbonated; left a pungent grassy aftertaste. It was sweeter than I make it sound - not bad, loved the yeastiness.

Golden in color with a small white head. Aroma is of sweet malt, juniper berries, nutmeg and ginger. Taste is ginger, fruity with banana and oranges, and juniper.

Blonde with a slight haze. Herbal, juniper nose...not much malts. Fruity juniper berry character with only a hint of malt. You’d NEVER know they ran it through a hopback full of juniper berries. Good flavour - I do like juniper. But it could do with a bit more malt.

Bottle, kp party. Medium bright gold, slightly hazy. Low carbonation. The juniper is really well-integrated and never becomes overwhelming. Mellower spice profile than expected.

Thanks to Blankboy, shared with HogTownHarry and I. Pours a cloudy orange with a tiny white head. Aroma: New shoes!!!?? Awesome aroma, spices, fresh herbs. Flavour: Hmm, somewhat disappointing compared to aroma however I still like it! Alcohol, spices, cabbage, leaves, alcohol is detectable, not bad. I find it a bit puzzling.

Bottle: Poured a hazy yellow. The aroma was sugary dark fruits. The flavor was the same with some spice and yeast. Overall, a really nice beer to have had.

Pours amber and hazy with a thin white head. Smells sugary and dry. Tastes dry and spicy with some clove and hints of resin and juniper on the finish. Unusual but enjoyable beer.

Pours a hazy bright yellow with a tad thin white head. The nose is spicy, very pungent, peppery, rotten fruit, gross. The flavor is astringent, peppery, sweet, strange, warming spice. The palate is astringent.

Bottle shared at the Carolina Crew tasting by ucusty - thanks, David! Second most confounding beer of the tasting? A weird golden pour, with a nose that’s complex in the unsettling way: baby powder, flour, biscuits, and cinnamon. Strange spice, diacetyl, and yeast in the taste. I kept thinking of Fat Bastard from the Austin Powers movies, which is not a good sign however you understand that.
