COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As we spiral further toward the end of the Mayan calendar, we at Tröegs felt obligated to brew a special beer to commemorate the expiration of planet Earth. We think it’s a pile of gibberish (just don’t quote us on that, though… you never know)! Either way, celebrate the countdown to extinction and raise a goblet of this colossal Russian Imperial Stout as we plummet into utter oblivion. If your tongue doesn’t disintegrate as a result of the birthday party cheesecake jellybean BOOM, at the very least this beer will wreak major havoc on your taste buds. Yes, ¿Impending Descent? is as enormous, face-melting, and palate-numbing as it sounds. If there ever was a last beer to enjoy before Doomsday, this is it. Here at Tröegs we say, “Bring on the apocalypse!”

Bottle. Pours a very deep black body with a great frothy and foamy dark brown head that had excellent retention and left lots of sticky lacing. The nose is big and intense with tons of roast and chocolate, some heavy burnt caramel sweetness, and a light hint of alcohol. This is one of the thickest and most intense aromas I’ve smelled in a long time. Reminds me a lot of Bell’s Expedition. The flavor is similar as well, rich and intense roastiness with a nice burnt caramel sweetness in the background. Some moderate burnt malt and hop bitterness on the finish. There’s a bit of alcohol present, but rather well kept in check for such a huge beer. Pretty great stuff, very much reminds me of Expedition. Would have liked to keep a few of these in the cellar for a few years and see what happens, but I drank 5 of these before this bottle I’m rating.

Pours a clean and sharp inky black with two fingers of dense creamy dark tan head. Nose shows lots of dark fruit and anise, licorice and fruit skins abound. Some acidity and deep roast. Flavor is very sharp and abrasive. Lots of ashy/acrid burnt grain with some bitter chocolate. Dark fruit skins and spent coffee grounds. Very acidic and brash. Full medium body on the finish. Sharp with some warming alcohol.

Black body, dark brown head & lace with good retention. Super roasty nose, touch of hops accent. So dark & chocolatey. Silky and smooth until the very end when the alcohol spears the back of my throat. Quite nice otherwise.

Via trade with Bmart. The aroma is sweet, caramel, chcolate, toffee, vanilla, oak, and a bit of bright citrus. The appearance is deep black, tan head, oily lacing in glass. The flavor is like the aroma, chocolate, caramel, toffee, vanilla, and a hint of oak or wood, with a tad of citrus. The finish is chocolate, roasty, pine, citrus. Thick in body, chewy. Very, very nice.

12oz bottle thanks to Ed5388, thanks bro. Poured a thick oily deep dark black with a smaller foamy dark mocha colored head. Aroma is probably one of the weaker things about this beer. Notes of oily chocolate, burnt dark chocolate, root beer, cola, soy sauce, nicotine, some green veggies. Big full body with softer carbonation and no noticable heat at all. Flavor of burnt dark chocolate, dark fruit and nuts, slight oxidation, vanilla extract and hint of roasted coconut. Great beer thanks Ed.

12oz bottle. Pours pitch black with a thick creamy mocha colored head. Aroma of chocolate, fudge brownies, dark fruits, caramel and roasted malt. Taste of roasted coffee, dark fruit, chocolate, caramel, with some finishing notes of grapefruit, and pine.

tap blue dust. Pour is jet black with rich caramel head. Nose is overly sweet, raisin and berries dominate. Faint tobacco but lacks malt depth. Taste is chalky up front before the sweetness takes over. Tons of sugar, burnt brown sugar, caramel, berry sweetness. Body is syrupy, decent carb. Way too sweet.

Chocolate Pils. Really good thick chocolate on a lighter body and decent hop that shows through. Great drinkability. Thick brown coloured body, with minimal head. Roasted chocolate smell. Smooth mouthfeel.

Bottle. Pour is black with some nice brown head. Roasted malts, bitter chocolate and nuts define the aroma and taste. Surprised at the abv, I like it.
