COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
What is Splinter Blue? Splinter Blue combines three of our favorite things – Dreamweaver, tart cherries, and Brettanyomyces. To begin this process we fermented Dreamweaver wort with Belgian/Lambic yeast blend. After a complete fermentation,… we aged the beer in oak barrels with wild yeast and souring bacteria for one year, and then added eighty pounds of tart cherries for another six months of aging. Splinter Blue pours a cloudy rose color with copious carbonation and a Brettanyomyces yeast funk. The beer’s effervescence highlights it’s sharp acidic cherry flavor, followed by a doughy cereal-like finish that lets you know there’s wheat in there.

750ml bottle. *** GUSHER ALERT *** A spewer, so have your glasses ready! Poured a cloudy amber color with a large sized head. Chunky lacing left on the glass. Aromas of wood, brett, and cherries. Tastes of tart cherries, brett, funky, and woody. Nice sour and tart finish with a dry finish.

Pours a hazy orange with yeast chunks and a medium white bubbly head. Aroma was nice and funky, bretty, perfume, banana, clove and just pleasant. Flavor was funky, bretty, light sour, tart cherries. Very well done!

Bottle at tasting, huge thanks to Allen for cracking this rarity. Pours hazy amber with huge white head, explosive cork that made an impression in the ceiling. Head dissipated quickly on this very carbonated sour. Aromas are lacto, bannanas, oak, cheese funk, white cherry. Taste is ultra tart sour ale with some caramel, lemon rinds, cherry, funk yeast, dark malts, and oak. Silky palate. One of the best sours I have had this year. Cheers.

Bottle shared by HopBear...thanks Barry! - Pours reddish amber with a thin ring of white head. Funky bretty nose, but not overly plastic or band-aid. Nice. The cherries are present, nice and tart with a pale malt nose. Taste is muted cherries, oak, and brett, dry but with a bit of sweet/tart cherry. Enough funkiness to make it interesting, but not overbearing. Citric tartness shows itself on the finish, but again it’s mellow enough to not be overbearing. Oh my...this is fantastic. Really overcarbonated, with a thinnish body. Just a fantastic beer--this is phenomenal.

750ml bottle graciously provided by Sean...A light rose colored pour, looks eerily similar to Veritas 007...A nice balanced aroma showing off tart cherries, oak, and little sweetness...The taste is lightly tart as well throughout, makes it a tastey drinker, I only wish it was a bit more tart. This is a tart beer not lambic sour. The cherries show off nicely as does a touch of oak...The feel is nice, dry, slight pucker, full palate...Easy drinker. After having the hyped up Gold I was ambiguous about trying this. However, this turned out to be the highlight of the night. An easy drinking wild with nice balance, could be a touch more tart but a good beer to start people off drinking on sours, or a fun easy drinker for those who enjoy the style.

Thanks to jecker aka Josh who brought this to the inaugural "Imminent Liquidation Bottle Share" event. Bottle poured into a taster glass. A - Pours hazy pink with a nice pillow of one finger tall white head, dissipating down to almost nothing, leaving light lacing down the glass. S - Plenty of sour funk up front mixes well with the tart cherries, bready wheat, lemon, lactic sweetness, and dry oak. Not too over the top. Very nice. T - Similar to the nose. Quite sour up front, once it dies down a bit you begin to pick up the tart cherries, chewy wheat from the dream weaver base, and some dry oak tannins. Finish is tart with some lingering funk. Not as sour as some of the other beers on the day but it still held its own. Very nice offering from the splinter series. M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Nice crisp, funky, feel with plenty of pucker in the finish lingering for some time. D - Pretty high. I have had this beer a few times now but I finally decided to sit down and review it. The tart cherries are a perfect match for the dream weaver base. Another great offering from Troegs.

This was awesome, great color with a small head and descent lacing. Aroma is sweet, tart, sour, fruity, lots of notibcable cherry, funky brett and wood. Flavor has all of the above, dense body, hints of wood and light spice, almost cinnamon like. Acidic on the finish as well as being a little dry, great.

Big thanks to thirdeye11 for sharing this rare gem. Very glad I got to try this one. The beer pours an orangish-pink color with a white head. The aroma is awesome. I get a lot of brett notes, but also get some tart lemon and cherries. There is also a nice amount of oak in the aroma. The flavor is even better than the aroma. There is a lot of brett funk along with a light to medium sourness from the lemons and cherries. The oak is also present in the flavor. I found the beer to be relatively sour and it finished very dry. The beer is highly drinkable. Medium mouthfeel and medium to high carbonation. Outstanding overall.

Hazy orange gold color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of brett, wood, vanilla, cherries, toast, and bacteria. Taste of sour cherries, wood, brett, toast, and a dry, sour finish.
