Tap. Very pale with a nice white head and some lacing. Smells like honey nut cheerios. Pretty balanced between the sweet and the dry. Light bodied with a light dry finish. Palate cleanser comes to mind.

12 oz bottle from Food Emporium (6-pack). Poured into shaker. Pale dull glossy gold color with little to no head. Mostly transparent. Light grassy floral notes in the aroma and a little bit of hops. Very light hoppy flavor with sweet floral notes and a subtle but distinctly fresh hop bitterness on the back end. Almost no aftertaste. Clean and refreshing.

decent pils, lacking a little in hops and comes off a little metallic. A little too bitter and metallic for my taste.

Pours a pale yellow with a small white head and some lacing. Aroma and Taste of citrus, grains, some biscuit malt, yeast and a bit of peppery spicy hops. Palate is a crisp medium body, with good carbonation. Finish is biscuit malt, yeast, citrus notes with a good amount of peppery spicy hops bitterness, seems a bit on the bitter side. Overall not the best but an ok summertime pils.

12 oz bottle. Not quite the pilsner I was hoping for. No similarity between the superior European equivalents. A disappointing effort from the usually outstanding Troegs.

A: Pours a medium straw color whose clarity is broken up by small yeast floaties grouped in a hazy manner. The head is a two finger white color with thick bubbles and low retention, but there are streaks of sticky lacing on the glass. S: Rather strong for a pils, it’s has a surprisingly rich zestiness to it, with hints of butter in the background...but it seems stale and off to me. Disappointing, but not at all without merit. T: Welp, my worst fears were confirmed - this is an old pilsner, bottle in 2011, not 2012. Oops. There’s a watery note right in the midtaste that kind of ruins everything, but it gives way to a zesty, crisp finish which redeems things somewhat. In addition, a sense of staleness pervades the entire beer to an extent. At least I can tell this was a good pils fresh. M: Goes down like water, with a faintly tannic aftertaste and lots of carbonation. The oak tannins threw me off to the point of being slightly detracting, but otherwise it drinks like a pilsner should. O: Moral of the story: look for bottle dates when buying a beer, especially when it’s a pils. The age has really made this one watery and stale - luckily, I’m still finding it spectacularly drinkable in spite of its glaring issues. Put it like this, it’s bottle conditioned well enough that I don’t regret purchasing it. I’ll try to re-review this one fresh.
