blkitson (134), Westerville, Ohio, USA Jun 18, 2007 Was at a resort and wanted to try something different, so I tried this but paid way too much for it. Very good pilsner. Had a somewhat of a nutty aftertaste. Would probably drink it again. Heathen (723), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jun 12, 2007 THOUGHTS: I don’t like pilseners much, but this wasn’t as bad as most I’ve tried.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poure a sparkling, light yellow with an average to large, thick, white head that mostly lasted and left excellent lacing. There was also great carbonation to look at. The aroma was light malts and moderate flower and grass hops. The initial flavor was lightly bitter and sour, while the finish was lightly sweet and moderately to heavily bitter and sour with a long duration. The body was light and dry with very fizzy carbonation and a metallic, chalky and lightly astringent finish. dmac (1423), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Jun 11, 2007 12 oz bottle. Poured a very thin looking pale yellow with a fizzy white head, reminded me of a light macro. Aroma was rather weak with some hints of grass and mostly malt coming through. Mouthfeel was thin and watery with some carbonation on the back of my throat. Flavor was lacking with not much catching my attention other then a slight malty aftertaste. Real let down from Troegs on this one. Rvrndmaynard (47), Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, USA Jun 1, 2007 On tap at Mile Square in Hoboken. To me, Pilsners always smell like they are skunked. So, sorry aroma, but you don’t cut it. Also, Lagers are for sissies who don’t like beer, at least in my opinion. However, I’m only one person, and who am i to argue with the Czech Republic? Not a bad example of the breed though, all things considered. CharlesDarwin (1824), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA May 31, 2007 On tap at Zeno’s in State College, PA. Aroma is a crisp, zinging tangy lemon punch, with light sweet malt touches. Pours a rather pale yellow, clear with a soap of white. Flavor is a bright, lovely, alive lemon apple sweetness, crisped with a tart bend of hop liquor. Nice faint yeast breads and spice, with a background of very clean malt presentation. Wonderfully quaffable and brightly finishing. A tremendous pils. jsquire (2087), St. Marys, Ohio, USA May 27, 2007 Straw golden color with a fizzy white head. I’ve been working in the garden all day, and this hits the spot. Light citrus nose. Clean and crisp beer. Light bready malts with lemon citrus and a grassy hop finish. Very nice thirst quencher beer. mtoast (290), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 27, 2007 Quickly becoming my favorite PA pilsener. Very deceptive light golden color with stark white foam, nice grassy Saazy aromas. Flavor is quick and simple, dry with some grassy bitterness. Not as complex as many other things out there, but damn if it doesn’t make me smile every summer. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA May 24, 2007 Definately not a fan. Draft at the Coney tonight. Granted, I had this after two Troegs Hopbacks, but it definately didn’t do anything for me. A gold color with a loose, foamy head. Very bitter and skunky. No real hop flavor to tie anything together. Pretty malty.
