Dacrza (245), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Jul 18, 2009 Situation: Celebrating Michael’s proclivity to his helmet and, to a lesser degree, new cigars from J&R...
Glassware: Paulaner pilsener...
Appearance: rocky, white mountainous head sits atop golden yellow-brown body, clear and frefreshing to the eye...
Aroma: definitely hoppier than pilseners I’m used to--and I don’t indict Troegs for trying something different; the light citric accents are subtle and remind me summer is to come...
Palate: balanced and abbreviated presence; a pretzel/chip beer by style, but its light floral fizz may demand lighter fair as an accompanyment...
Taste: Light in the tastebuds, with the hops adding a subtle, wheatlike flavor to the malt’s base....highly drinkable by the sixes...
Overall: Mission accomplished here--a summer deck companion for lighter cigars, party food, more beer and friends--tonight I’ve got all but the friends, and it still works...
WesKBob (317), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA Jul 14, 2009 Bottle via trade with Birdiebeagle. Pours a clear golden yellow with thin white head with good retention. Aroma is lager yeast and just a hint of sweet malts. Flavor is crisp and clean, with some light grassy notes and a hint of citrus hops. Good pilsner and easy-drinking session beer. beerfest5 (128), Simsbury, Connecticut, USA Jul 14, 2009 not my fav style, but a nice beer after a day at the beach. not too overpowering, or alcoholic. easy session beer. kassner (429), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 11, 2009 On tap at Magoos. Light golden color, modest headand lacing, nice if just a little light as a version of german Pils. verymerrymonk (255), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 10, 2009 Pour is a clear yellow with little head. Hoppy for a pils. Some citrus and very crisp. italianjohn (338), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 5, 2009 Pours a golden yellow white head that disappeared ..... its a pils with some citrus bitter hops which def puts it above the macro crap and it has a nice and clean finish not bad for 5.3% Strykzone (1458), Wood River, Illinois, USA Jul 3, 2009 Bottle in Virginia. Pours a clear golden hue with a one finger white head. Not very much retention. Honey and straw aroma. Flavor begins with honey and soon becomes grassy, dry and quite bitter. Hops give sourness and a long lasting bitter aftertaste. Just an OK pils. dagimp (108), Philly, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 3, 2009 Six pack of bottles from the brewery. Pours sunshine yellow with a couple fingers of light head. Smell is of hops. Taste is very clean and, as advertised, hoppy. I like the hoppiness of this pilsner. Of the better pils’ I’ve tasted, this one has the most bite to it. Overall, an excellent beer and one of the better of the style. Will drink again for sure.
