Johnsonator (1), USA does not count May 15, 2005 This is an excellent summer pilsner, light and refreshing, good hoppy taste, nice biiter toungue feeling with a sweet dry finish, Been a big fan of Troegs for a while and this beer is no exception to the great lineup of beers from this Harrisburg Brewery Callahan09 (7), USA does not count Apr 13, 2006 It’s a great beer! (He agrees). I sense some kind of Mexicano with fruity lime and other citrus. I like the aroma, especially. It looks golden, but has a heavy long-lasting flavor. obguthr (986), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Jun 23, 2007 Marvelous thistle, sweet grapefruit, and honey aroma. Very pale yellow color, medium snow white head, coats the glass fairly well. Hoppy flavor ringed with honey, great balance and strength. Rose petal finish. Easily leaves a smile on my face. Mmmmmm beer! rampmaster (314), Alden, New York, USA Jul 29, 2009 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a Pilsener glass.
Appearance: Its body bright golden color with some cool sparkling carbonation. The head is small, about one finger thick, bright white in color and slowly fades down to a small slick ring of lace.
Smell: There is a full bouquet of mostly floral/spicy hops with light pale malt and just a slight hint of sulfur.
Taste/Mouth: The flavor is very crisp and clean with a solid medium body. Hop flavor is bright, floral, and clean with a pleasing level of bitterness. Just under the hops there is a modest level of crisp, dry, and pale white bready malt. The finish is quick, dry and fairly clean with some light hop bitterness. Its carbonation is quite active which gives it a lively and refreshing texture.
Notes: This is a great refreshing beer with excellent Pilsner Flavor.
EKGoldings (447), Radford, Virginia, USA Jul 16, 2003 Hops are very apparent, very nice light yellow color. Does not have the hop punch of the Prima Pils from Victory but the Sunshine is a very nice Pilsner with American IPA level hops. Very slight metallic aftertaste with nice maltiness. mtoast (290), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 27, 2007 Quickly becoming my favorite PA pilsener. Very deceptive light golden color with stark white foam, nice grassy Saazy aromas. Flavor is quick and simple, dry with some grassy bitterness. Not as complex as many other things out there, but damn if it doesn’t make me smile every summer. TAR (2087), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA Jun 12, 2004 Pale yellow. Sticky, fluffy white head. Zesty hop nose with hints of fresh flowers, perfume, lemon zest, and straw. Scarce, yet sharp, malt presence and slightlty airy underneath. Round body with soft carbonation. Becomes pillowy-fluffy as it breathes. Flavorful balance of sweet pale malt hulls and grassy hops. Feathery malt layers fade into the background as the candied lemon sweetness, honeydew, and juicy hops gather steam and balance the malt sweetness. Hops lose their snappiness but retain their juicy, round, complexity and take on more of a soft bushy earhiness. Finishes moist and less snappy than when it started, yet with lasting lemon zest bitterness and a touch of sweet malts. Extensive dry-hopping yields tasty hop belches. Every aspect of this is remarkably polished. One of the most elegant Pilsners out there. Amber1 (32), USA Jun 5, 2002 pours nicely with big upfront hoppy aroma as a pilsner should, I’m guessing czech hops. subtle bitterness and hints of caramel malt. very good pilsner.
