Lots of honey and cherries in the nose and on the tongue. Fruit sweetness masks the alcohol, perhaps a little too well. Love this beer.

Strong aroma & appearance. The taste is medicinal. This beer went flat quickly. Low hops. The chocolate was undetectable.

Bottled. Pours a beautiful red cherry color, small white effervescent head. Aroma is tons of cherry. As soon as you open the bottle you can smell it. Lots of esters, dark fruits, little bit of honey sweetness. Almost too sweet smelling. Flavor is lots of cherry, honey, sweet flavors. Like a really intense Belgian style dubbel but without the Belgian yeast and spices. Mouthfeel is unremarkable. A good beer (its well done and high quality) but it’s sweet. Just not my cup of tea (or bottle of beer).

In a solo cup at the barber shop (hey, it’s free). Aroma isn’t great, but the taste is fine, fruity, a bit more grainy flavor than I prefer alcohol is pretty forward. Overall a good but not great beer.

Startling red color, sparkingly clear. Medium body, alcoholic, smooth. Sweet, balanced by enough acidity. Delicate fruity taste, liqueur, phenolic. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I ended up liking this beer. Strong is an understatement. If I have more than one, I am spending the night lol Reddish tinge was a nice touch. Both the cherries and honey are noticeable. I actually enjoyed this one quite a bit... very fitting for the season. Smells very sweet, but captures that belgian taste like I love despite it being called an american strong ale. Fizzy, strong boozy mouthfeel and almost no bitterness.

Actually pretty decent. More like a Belgian strong than american. Pours hazy red with good head and lacing. Soft carbonation. Light sweet finish. Some prune here and a touch of candy. Tap at Giant.

Mahogany colored beer with a light pinkish foamy head. Boozy nose of alcohol, cherries, and sour spice. Flavor has a bit of sour cherry flavor, but is overpowered by an astringent alcohol burn that takes over your palate. Some spice comes through, but it’s hard to discern through the burn. Syrupy with some perky effervescence, this beer is decent, but definitely not worth the price.

Glowing copper red body with a nice frothy white head. Fruity nose consists of bananas and dark berries with a pleasant maltiness to smooth out the sweetness. Sweet cherry flavor dominates the taste. Hints of holiday spice and honey are present. Sweet medicinal aspects tend to mask the booziness, although, the heat surfaces here and there. Finishes with a sweet tingly feel.

2014.12.04 - on tap at Roasthouse Pub. I had a bomber of this a few weeks ago and did not rate. A little less than a braggot but close. Add just the right amount of a sweet cherry taste. This is a very tasty brew, the first from Troegs that has captured my attention. 3.7/5 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sticky sweet aroma, big belgian yeast aroma is the most prominent which gives it a bit of spice. Brown-Ruby red pour with a burnt caramel coloured head which doesnt stick around long. Not my cup of tea, a bit too sweet, bit too yeasty. Too much competing in this beer for the top spot.
