The combination of Cherries, Honey, and Chocolate Malts delivers gentle fruits and subtle spices. Fermented and aged with a unique yeast , this ruby red beer has significant warming strength that underlies the character of this Ale.

A 12 oz. bottle filled my goblet glass with a copper red body and a handsome tan collar, but the head disappeared quickly and left little discernable lacing. The aroma is bold--sweet and malty--and features the advertised dark cherry and Christmas spice. There’s a good deal of alcohol in the nose as well. This ale starts out quite sweet, but I found the medium-body a bit surprising for a seasonal offering of this type. The Pilsner and Munich malts definitely lighten the character of this beer. Strong cherry flavors form the backbone of the mid-palate flavor profile, but an unmistakable clove and cinnamon spiciness rounds things out in the lead up to the long dry finish. The 11 percent ABV lends a lingering alcohol character. A nice Christmas beer.

Bottle. Pours an amber color with white head. Cherry, caramel, malty, cocoa aromas. Cherry, malty, syrupy, honey, a touch of oak, and fruity flavors. Not a typical beer I’d like, but decent enough sipping holiday beer.

Bottle from Bethesda Food and Beverage. Dark brown cola body with medium head. Nose is ballistic of malts and chocolate, spices and honey. So good. Taste is very alcy, sweet, plummy and nicely done. An incredible 11% but not too sharp. Enjoyable.

Mahoganyfärgad öl med ett lättare rosa skum. Mycket alkohol och tuggummi både i doft och särskilt smak gör att detta definitivt inte är ett öl för mig.

Snifter glass at pint night at Middletown Fine Wine and Spirits. Cellared since last fall. Pours a dark hazy red with a tan head. Aromas of cherry and spices. Taste the same with raisin and malt flavors. Medium palate. Lots of alcohol warmth. Nice beer really smoothed out with the aging. As the beer warms the alcohol becomes more pronounced.

Look - Unfiltered red body. Head is gone quickly but light tan. No lacing. Smell - Strong cherry. Faint honey. Slight dank hop. Taste - Wheat beer with Christmas spice. Cherry. Honey. Stronger than desired alcohol taste, but drinkable. Feel - Chewy. Heavy. Carbonation comes through where it doesn’t in the look. Overall - Part of my namesake. One of the first beers that moved me to high ABV. I always get a few of these each Christmas (and same some for the Summer).

Bomber into pint glass. 2014 batch. Aggressive pour makes three finger head witch is gone in a few minutes. Head is light tan, beer is amber in color. Some very light lacing. Aroma is weak. Taste is malty and lightly sweet with notes of cherry and honey. Long finish. Some strong alchol notes shine through. Over all good beer. I don’t see this as a holiday beer. Better later in winter maybe spring.

Bottle from forever ago. Reddish brown colored pour; sweet, hoppy smell and taste. Alcohol is really strong. Not really my cup of tea - too much here for me to really enjoy. Definitely a winter warmer, haha.

Gift from Maxbier. 12oz bottle. Appearance is a reddish hue with good clarity. The aroma is cherry, citrus, dark fruit, and boozy. The taste is similar with an added amount of spice and hops. The palate is a little thin. Overall pretty good beer I'm definitely looking forward to the next holiday season!
