Adam77 (407), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA Apr 3, 2009 Not a fan. Poured brown with a white head. Aroma of caramel. Lots of caramel with a hit a bread in the finish. Didn’t finish right for me. inkubus27 (237), Highland, Indiana, USA Mar 28, 2009 Thank you abcfan for this one. Pours a dark shade of copper. Aroma is all malt. Flavor is very one sided, and you can literally taste the caramel malt in this. Kindof cloying, but if you like sweet beers this is right up your alley. Not bad, just a really one sided malt bomb. joeyplush (328), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 25, 2009 Aroma is yeasty and also a bit spicy. Also dark roasted malt if you examine it more closely. Some licorice in the flavor and palate. Not one of Troeg’s best offerings in my opinion.
zapprentice (309), East Setauket, New York, USA Mar 23, 2009 Tap at The Mission. Caramel aroma with fruit. Caramel to butterscotch flavor and fruits. baggio (195), norrtälje, Sweden Mar 21, 2009 Bottled@home
Apperance: Ruby red with a generous, beige, head and lots of sticky lacing.
Aroma: Dried fruit, Caramel, Cocoa and roasted malts.
Flavor: Butterscotch, Caramel, Ripe fruit, Bread and a subtle hint of some spice.
Palate: Sweet and malty with a minimal bitterness at the end. Sweetness is in no way overwhelming tho!
Second beer i’ve tried from this brewery and they continue to impress me. This might not be as good as the best german doppelbocks but it’s not far behind!
CanIHave4Beers (837), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Mar 20, 2009 Bottle courtesy of CheapDark. thanks much!
This pours a nice deep red color with a smallish head. The aroma is nice with good hints of cherry and alcohol. The Flavor is a little roasty with some good sweet fruitiness of cherry and apple with some good alcohol drying it out.
scrizzz (1252), kirkland, Washington, USA Mar 19, 2009 Rich clear caramel color, thin off white head. Crunchy milk caramel aroma, some earthy hops in the backend. Silky in sweetness and body. Pleasantly oxidized, rich and smooth. mcox90 (618), Wilton, USA Mar 15, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a clear red/amber hue with a 1/2" off white head. Sweet caramel, malty nose. Palate is medium bodied.
