Aroma of roased malt, caramel, toffee, and slight alcohol. Taste of the same with a nice sweetness on the back end. This medium bodied brew is quite drinkable and well balanced. Not a big fan of this style but this is pretty tasty. JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 11, 2008 draft at the brewkettle - Crystal clear ruby red color with nice creamy off white head. Aroma has ton of medium toasted caramel, cherry, oak, vanilla, touch of roastyness. Flavor is full of chewy malts, caramel, oak, slightly metallic note, with a fairly sweet finish, somewhat cloying. Overall decent, not amazing. Needed to attenuate a bit more and have a bit more bitterness, IMO. mikalooch (163), , New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2008 Bottle. Pours deep amber with a very thin head. Sugary sweet malt in the nose, almost candylike. Medium but sticky mouthfeel. Very sweet, dark fruits like cherry or plum with heavy malt, finishes a bit sour. Not bad, a decent brew, nothing too special. Will try again. Fin (3406), Merton, Oxfordshire, England
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 5, 2008 Bottle at the Belgian Cafe, Philadelphia 18-11-08. Pours almost cherry red in colour but there is a amberness there as well in a certain light. There is quite a heavy alcohol presence that hits fast but with some thick malts. This is just too sweet and cloying for me to really enjoy. There is a stickiness, its a bit plummy and some jamminess qualities start to come through. tomthompson89 (1473), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 29, 2008 Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of cereal, nutty and milk chocolate, light resin and earth for the hops and yeast, and hints of toffee, cola and alcohol. Head is frothy, off-white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear reddish brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic then finishes moderately sweet and lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, creamy. and has a carbonation between soft and lively. It finishes moderately astringent and alcoholic. A smooth and rich Doppelbock, but the palate finish knocked off a few points.
