| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 19, 2008 Aroma is stuffed full of dark malts, noticably molasses and dark syrups. It’s dark in color, like a dark red-brown. The head is small, with a light white collar. It’s flavor is full, with a bit of strong malt bodies, the molasses is not overwhelming, the dark barley malts are balanced well with the sweet malts. It’s a pleasant drink. Very well balanced, not too much alcohol, not too sweetness. Steinface (77), Hatfield, Pennsylvania, USA

Not my favorite, but would surely drink again beautifulmess (4), Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA does not count | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 8, 2008 Smooth, smooth, smooth. @ 8%, I can’t detect a trace of alcohol. I love this beer as a whole. It really is an original. Honey and bread, with a nutty finish. Poo-Zim-Pee-La! TURDFERGUSON (1598), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 7, 2008 Bottle purchased at Mom’s Apple Pie Co. somewhere in Va. on my way home from BCTC. Was originally going to be for my secret santa but he had already rated it, so now I drink it. Thought I had rated this too, so it’s a nice surprise. Pours a cherry-red amber with a thin head that fades fast. Aroma is very malty but little else going on. Flavor is similar, very malty, a bit of alcohol, but nothing really distinguishable. A bit of honey, biscuit, and hops in the finish. This beer really doesn’t do much for me. Doubt I’ll finish the whole bomber. mattduling (64), Fairmont, West Virginia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 5, 2008 Bottle. Lots of sweet malt in this one, earthy, maybe a touch of coffee. Spicy, semi-bitter finish. Not a preferred style for me, but quite enjoyable nonetheless. LilBeerDoctor (1492), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 5, 2008 Bottle, bottled 5/13/08. Pours a dark mahogany with a thick light tan head. Aroma of toasted malt and sweet roasted malt, faint dark fruits. Flavor is pretty similar, dark fruits, toasted malts, bread, brown sugar, molasses, and some smoke. I can’t even notice the 8%. Pretty good beer and another winner from Troegs. lemasney (398), Trenton, New Jersey, USA

Purchased at: Circle Liquors Super Saver, Pennington, NJ for $2.25
Aroma: musky, sweet, malty. 7 out of 10.
Visuals: clear, red, off white, persistent head, some light lace. 4 out of 5.
Taste: maple syrup, crystal malt, light bitterness, medium craft. 6 out of 10.
Palate: washy, watery, quick finish. 2 out of 5.
Overall: disappointing for a double style. A generalized brown ale with a deeper finish. I would not seek it out again. It seems macro. 14 out of 20.
